Re: What do we used for "D8"
OK, thanks Kilrah. Seems like another step backwards with the 2019 Tx! With this and the EEPROM memory warning that you also helped me with, I think I'm going to have to split my models into two groups, so the D8 models can remain with my older Taranis plus and the newer and bigger ones with the new...

Re: EEPROM warning
Thanks, Kilrah. This seems to be a bit of a limitation given its overall power, and memory is so cheap now. One for the wish list.

EEPROM warning
I'm setting up my Tx and copying models, but only have about half the model memory slots in use. I have a 1GB SD card in it, if that's relevent. Today the Tx comes up with this message on booting up - "EEPROM WARNING EEPROM low mem" What's causing this? Is it just a matter of needing to us...

What do we used for "D8"
I'm still learning my Taranis plus 2019. I have several MicroAces models, each having an all-in-one block receiver with a couple of linear servos and a speed controller on the board. These bound to my older Taranis plus no problem, and I was using internal RF mode "D8" in the Tx. I've disc...

Re: Lost "Cells"
Fantastic, Dean, many thanks, I'll consult those. I joined together all my different sensors and discovered sensors again, so I now have a long list of them, GPS, airspeed, rpm, amps, etc. My plan is to recreate what I did originally, which was to write a couple of template models and then copy that...

Re: Lost "Cells"
Ah, the mystery starts to unravel - thanks. Light at the end of the tunnel, but this really does seem to be a step backwards from the previous in my view. I've never really needed to look at the telemetry page before. So I can now see more unexplained fields in both the Tx and in Companion. As an as...

Re: Lost "Cells"
Sorry, I think maybe I misunderstood. Is there a function to "discover sensors"? I never needed to do anything in my older Tx or Companion 2.2, the functions were available from the start by default in both.

It's not just "Cells" that's missing, it's also not got "Cell" and all other telemetry paramaters like T1, T2, Vfas, Curr etc

Re: Lost "Cells"
No. Just to be sure, I've just bound an X8R with a FLVSS attached and a LiPo on that. There are 4 servos attached and all work in response to stick movements (just to be doubly sure!).The FLVSS is flashing slowly as normal and displaying the cell voltages. In the Tx, if I look for "Cells" ...

Lost "Cells"
I've recently upgraded from Taranis plus to Taranis plus 2019, and from Companion 2.2 to Companion 2.3. All my electric models use "Cells" to monitor the LiPo motor pack via an FLVSS LiPo sensor and LSs to warn me when the pack voltage gets down to a minimum value. I can't find Cells in 2....

I've found a programming error from copying one model to several new ones. Removed the offending line and it's working normally now.

Re: Why is my receiver battery always critical?
Thanks, Kilrah. This happens on all my models at the moment, some with batteries for the Rx and some electric flight ones with Rx power coming from the speed controller. The telemetry shows A1 voltage higher than the alarm values at all times, yet it still complains!

Why is my receiver battery always critical?
Recently I've been getting more warnings "Receiver battery critical" from my Taranis Plus X9D. As look at it now, the telemetry screen (main screen + long press of Page button) is showing A1=4.91v <4.86 >5.07, but the setup telemetry menu is showing A1 channel 4.91v, range 13.2v, offset 0....

Re: Problems with a new Taranis
OK, thanks again. I've re-formatted my SD card then recopied all the sound files etc and that has got rid of the annoying glitches in those. I've also downloaded and installed from Companion the latest firmware. From what you say, Kilrah, the unbroken bootloader is still called 2.1.6 and my radio do...

Hi Kilrah,
I didn't expect that question and my old Taranis is not at home. I can get it in a couple of days. The new one has bootloader 2.1.6 and firmware version opentx-taranis-plus-2.0.20

Problems with a new Taranis
I've used my first Taranis system for about 3 years now. A few months ago I decided to pension off that Tx which had had a lot of use (and some accidental abuse!) and get a new one. I bought a Taranis X9D Plus, but have had some problems. I'd appreciate any comments and help as I'm not really skille...

Re: Custom sound files using Companion
I've tried deleting and re-copying the files to the SD card one by one, but they appeared in the dialogue box as before. It can't be a random order as the order was the same as last time.
Roll on 2.0.16! Do we know when to expect it?

Re: Custom sound files using Companion
First guess - yes Second guess - I don't know, but I don't think so as I did a lot of sound creations recently (I use the Tx as a schedule caller for aerobatics) using the AT&T website and named them sequentially (code names zA1, zA2, zA3, zB1, etc, as I wanted them all to be together in the lis...

Re: Custom sound files using Companion
Thanks to you both. I've tried jtaylor's suggestion, and it works fine. I guess my Windows 7 does allow it to read from the program files folders, so I won't try putting them in a "user" location yet, kilrah, but who knows when Win10 comes out.... Well, to be exact it works 9/10. The minor...

Custom sound files using Companion
I'm using Companion 2.0.15 to modify my Taranis model program settings. I use a lot of custom sounds and would like to program these using Companion. I have no trouble saving the sound files on the Taranis's MicroSD drive under SOUNDS\en when the PC and Tx are connected by USB, and if I do so I can ...

Re: Blade130X template
Thanks ArchmageAU for posting this. My Blade 130X flew many times when I had a Spektrum transmitter. However I'm a relative beginner at Taranis and can't get this EEPROM to work for me. I've transferred it onto my Taranis OK (ver 2.0.13) which has an Orange DSM2/DSMX module fitted. The cyclic, tail ...

Re: Should rates and expos go in inputs or mixer?
I agree, Tim. One observation I can make as a beginner is that once you've got over the initial hill, there's a lot of help around albeit not written as such - you have to look for things and interpret them. That's OK for many once you have a basic understanding and have clawed your way up that hill...

Re: General telemetry problems
No - the lack of a reading was not due to the DC as when I increased it from the meagre 0.3A the bulb was pulling to a higher value, it read OK. Seems there's a zero error. Maybe it needs calibration - the FAS-40 readings do not quite agree with the readings on my Wattmeter.

Yes, that sounds like a good plan. I'm all for reducing the number of lines, too - less work and less chance of a mistake.
Thanks!

Re: Should rates and expos go in inputs or mixer?
Thanks, Helle, I'm glad to hear there's nothing fundamentally wrong with doing it either way. I was anxious to be sure that I wouldn't settle on one way or the other only to find it led to snags later when I get better at this. I like to be consistent to make it easier to learn and to troubleshoot. ...

Re: General telemetry problems
Ah, I think I've solved it. I'll post this in case anyone has a similar problem. I received some RPM sensors and that made me rig up a motor and controller to see how it worked. As a result, my FAS-40 does work now and displays on the Tx under "Curr". The LED continues to blink quickly, th...

Copy models between EEPROMs
I'm fairly new to Taranis and companion. I'm using v2.0.12 I've found that there are some useful EEPROMs available for downloading from http://rcsettings.com/. I can open them in Companion and there are a couple I'd like to copy to my radio. However I'd really like to add them to the other models I'...

Should rates and expos go in inputs or mixer?
I've found it's possible to get rate functions by adding lines to inputs or by adding lines to mixers. (Or both! in which case they seem to multiply together.) To avoid confusion, let's leave one or the other with only 100% weights and no additional lines. Then, what are the pros and cons of doing t...

General telemetry problems
Hi guys I'm new to Taranis having been a Spektrum user for many years. I've got my X9D working fine and have Companion 2.0.12 working with it. All my receivers presently are X8Rs. Great system, so far so good. 8-) Whilst buying kit I hadn't fully realised the difference between D series and X series...
