Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

Well, the arduino and USB interface has been delivered, and it is TINY

Managed to work out the connection and have uploaded a few programs on to it, still waiting for the sensor board to arrive

If anyone else has one of these and wants a walk through let me know?

Regards

Re: Antenna replacement

I have now ordered a new X8R with the 'normal' antenna, when they arrive and have been swapped the PCB antenna will be spare? They are coming from Australia to the UK so will take 10 days apparently. Flaps 30 - if you want to experiment with them I can send them to you, as long as you promise to lea...

New Bootloader

First thing to say is I have no problem with the new bootloader, in fact it is excellent! Reason for the message is that when I plug the USB cable in with the TX off it won't turn on...if I go into the bootloader and THEN plug the cable in everything is fine (get two drives in W7 - one for the SD ca...

Re: Antenna replacement

I was thinking about buying a second X8R (for my plane) and trying to get one with the normal (is this the 'whisker' ?) antenna If not get the separate antenna and change them myself. I am a bit uncomfortable with home made antenna, I know they are tuned and don't have any test equipment other than ...

Antenna replacement

Just dawned on me that the PCB antenna I got with my new X8R isn't going to go through the holes on my quadcopter body...they are designed for the 'wire' ended antenna. Short of boring bigger holes both sides of the quad body *sigh* I did think about buying a second RX with the wire antenna or disma...

Re: Display position

The end of the story... I got my replacement transmitter and it was exactly the same as the original - so I think this is a manufacturing issue! I decided to dismantle the original - I unplugged all the connectors on the main PCB, and removed it from the radio and gently prised the glass display off...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

I am also interested in building this and have just ordered an Arduino and sensor board - which I got from the link below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290938603505 (the board)

Not sure what will arrive though!

I got a discount on my first order so it was just over 8 UKP

Re: Display position

Fantastic - this is just what I hoped for! It will make things so much easier now I know what to do, thank you so much Interestingly I am now getting a replacement sent, but if this has the same problem perhaps it will be time to try this I am sure this will help quite a few others too, I will send ...

Re: Display position

Kilrah, do you mind me asking where the LCD attaches to the backlight assembly? I have been looking at this http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=28367117&postcount=28790 and it looks like the glass panel is attached to something else? I am trying to work out where the double sided tape ...

Re: Display position

Interesting - I tried to shift the PCB up by undoing the PCB screws but there was no play - I wasn't brave enough to pull the PCB out completely! If I do chance this, are the strips top and bottom or left and right? (so I know where to pull) and once I've got it off are there any alignment marks, or...

Re: Display position

Yes, so I have been reading - fortunately I purchased my Taranis from a dealer in the UK (where I live) so I will send it back until I get one that is better.

I think FrSky are very poor for not addressing this issue and not replying to you, it reflects badly on them

Re: Display position

Thank you both - I have now found the thread about the display problem (yes, looks like a quality control issue!) If the charging cycle is the same this makes sense, I guess I could have just waited to see how long the batteries lasted, but have read something else about having to go through the cha...

I have just found this thread - my Taranis was delivered yesterday (2 June 2014) and I have the same problem!

I have posted a new topic 'Display position'

Display position

I had my new Taranis delivered yesterday, wahoo! Spent all last night playing around with it and have managed to flash it to OpenTX 2.0 and got it to bind so I am off and running :) I have even managed to get a model set up and working to practise with PhoenixRC (and test settings!) Two things I wan...

Re: Taranis Charger (need help with reducing Amperage)

No problem - I have done a bit of looking around and someone else suggested a voltage limiter - I found one on FleaBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Durable-Mini-3A-DC-DC-Converter-Adjustable-Step-down-Power-Supply-Module-/181301388803?_trksid=p2054897.l5663 which is pretty inexpensive (I am in the ...

Re: Taranis Charger (need help with reducing Amperage)

Yes, I read an earlier post by ShowMaster about the max input voltage being 13.5v which prompted the question?

I am wondering show much the standard 12v power supply that comes with the Taranis varies? How well regulated it is, in other words?

Re: Taranis Charger (need help with reducing Amperage)

I was talking about charging the NiMh battery not a LiPo...using the existing internal charger

Sorry Kilrah our posts crossed - I presume you were saying the same thing?

Re: Taranis Charger (need help with reducing Amperage)

I was thinking about making up a lead to charge a Taranis in the car (via the cigarette lighter socket) but the voltage with the car running can be close to or over 14v IIRC?

Good idea or not?

Re: OpenTx r2940

Thank you - my Taranis will be delivered on Saturday - do you think it would be better to flash it to 2.0 and start learning with this?

Or stick to 2940?

I know they are a bit different

Re: OpenTx r2940

I am getting a bit confused about the firmware versioning and wonder if someone could elaborate? RELEASE-2923 is marked as the latest version, but my Companion 9x downloads 2940? These are the SVN version numbers that will be replaced by 1.99 - 2.0 - 2.0x etc, correct? Where is 1.99? It does not see...

Storage case size?

Would some kind person measure the dimensions of the aluminium storage case you used to get with the Taranis?

Thanks
