Never mind I think I got it!
So I set up logical switches X and Y, then use the LS for the custom switch? Trying that.

Thanks Scott. Go get some sleep. lol (got your email) That's what I figured, but I don't know anything about how they work. I'll try fiddling around with them. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Advanced programming for a noob..
First, apologies for the long post, but I wanted to be as specific as possible so there are no questions from you experts. I got a new quad that I am using my Taranis to control. The controller allows for six flight modes on one channel. It looks for distinct PWM ranges to switch between modes. I am...

I did the same thing yesterday when I updated to 2.0.2. Freaked me out when it wouldn't power on. Unplugged it, turned it on, and worked as normal. Whew! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: Very close range brownouts
Servos stopped. Red light on receiver. It came back on so fast, the Taranis girl didn't even have a chance to say "Telemetry lost". It's like a flicker. I was going to take the airplane to our field today but there are thunderstorms predicted, so I might not get to do that today.

Re: Very close range brownouts
I just did a range check. With range check on (three chirping beeps), at 40 paces (about 130 feet) the lowest the RSSI got was 49 (I was moving the radio all over the place to get the antenna orientation every possible position in 3D space). Walking back with the antenna pointed directly at the mode...

Re: Very close range brownouts
Here are some photos. I have my Carbon Fiber wing rod in the fuse because I always lose it and it's just better to leave it there. Also, my servo wires are all over the place because I just installed the receiver and haven't had a chance to tidy them up. I used red to show where the antennas are.

Very close range brownouts
I just removed my JR 1221 receiver and replaced it with a X8R from my 30CC Sbach 342. I turned my Taranis on for the first time and when I was close to the antennas (I bound the receiver earlier on the bench), when I got intermittent reception. The RX went from green to red for about a second and th...

Re: Conditional telemetry
Great, thanks. I haven't really started looking at the CS section, but I know what you are talking about. It's just setting up IF...THEN commands if I understand it correctly. I figured the Taranis would let me do what I asked, I just wanted some confirmation. Perhaps a pitot tube sensor would be be...

Re: Got my X8R. Can somebody explain serial bus with FrSky?
A ring serial bus. We used a ring bus in my work (I used to manage a power plant in Connecticut) for that very reason. That's a good idea. I noticed on the example Futaba uses on their website, they pretty much just do the spider thing, but if you had your servos end to end in one long series, a rin...

Re: Got my X8R. Can somebody explain serial bus with FrSky?
Okay, makes sense. One thing I have always worried about though, most servo wire is 22ga or smaller. If you have 12-14 servos, say, running a big 3D gasser, that's a lot of current running through a single bus. Should we be using, I don't know, 18 ga wire? Is there such a thing? EDIT: Also- lets' sa...

Got my X8R. Can somebody explain serial bus with FrSky?
I sort of get it. I saw that FrSky has the sbus to ppm converter to make your x8 receiver to to 12 channels. But for a true serial bus configuration, you need to put several converters in series, or servos in series or use hubs, or something. I don't see any nodes or hubs or whatever you want to cal...

Re: Computer can't see Tx when connected
I had the same problem. There are a bunch of threads sort of explaining how to fix it. I was confused when trying to figure it out because I'm new to the radio as well, and a lot of answers assume you already have some familiarity with the radio. First thing is to connect the Taranis to the computer...

Conditional telemetry
I'm not asking how, I'm asking if it is possible. I can look up the how later (unless you are feeling froggy and want to explain it... :)). Is the following possible: I have a jet. It has telemetry that sends speed information to my Taranis. When gear is down and flaps are up for takeoff, when the r...

Re: I'm so stupid- maybe chicken. Need some confidence.
Thanks. It's funny because I've lost two airplanes to DSM2, and nearly lost others several times, yet for whatever reason, all those antennas everywhere makes it hard for me to replace them with just two. In actuality, the fact that DSM requires all those antennas should tell me that DSM2 is c**p an...

I'm so stupid- maybe chicken. Need some confidence.
I am the first to shout the praises of the Taranis radio to my friends. I explain how it is superior to my old radio, a JR11X DSM2, how I happily sold my JR for twice what I paid for my Taranis and wouldn't look back. etc., etc. But I'm staring at my 3D gasser here in my workshop- the most expensive...

Re: Mixing but not together
I fixed it two different ways. Thanks to Scott Page for the tips. On the ailerons, I simply limited the travel range of the servos slightly. They were very close to begin with, so any loss in performance by lowering available servo range was negligible. On the elevator, where it was quite a ways off...

Mixing but not together
Now that I have my firmware updated, on to the next thing... I have a DSMX/2 module in my Taranis as the secondary TX. I have a JR 9 channel (I think) receiver in my 30CC Sbach. I bound the airplane to the Taranis perfectly. (except I had the throttle servo reversed, and when I started it, it spun u...

Re: Can't connect to radio with Companion
Hey, how about me? :( I have it set to Taranis. It works with Companion 1.52, but Companion 1.52 won't load the .bin file I have all my settings stored on (I saved it with 2.0.1). If I install 2.0.1, I can no longer see the radio with Companion (though the computer can see the radio as drive G:). An...

Re: Can't connect to radio with Companion
Okay, I installed the old 1.57 (or whatever) version of Companion and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I can't upload the .bin file to my radio (has all my airplanes and settings in it) with this version, so I'm letting it upgrade back to 2.0.1. Whatever happened to if it ain't broke don't fix it? lol...

Can't connect to radio with Companion (SOLVED)
EDIT: Problem solved. I didn't have the firmware updated, and the USB device was incorrect. I found a thread several spots below this one which explained how to use zadig to change the driver. Uploaded new firmware, upgraded OpenTX Companion to 2.0.1, opened old .bin file with all my airplanes, load...

Mixing telemetry input with controls
I'm trying to read all I can about the Taranis before I get mine (just ordered it). I was wondering, is it possible to take data from your telemetry and use it to mix? For example, I have a foamy EDF that was designed for and came with a 4S 2200kv 70mm EDF. It's okay, but not fast enough for my tast...

Re: Taranis is in the mail
Great! Thanks guys. I'm so pumped about this radio I can barely stand it. This time last year I spent over $200 on a freaking 8 channel receiver for my JR radio before I found FrSky, and now I have an entire radio for less. And my JR never even dreamed of talking to me. lol I'll start reading the th...

Taranis is in the mail
I got my notification that my Taranis was finally in stock, and now it's in the mail. I've watched a few videos and it's pretty clear that this is nothing like my JR11X- which is fine, but I have a lot to learn. I've been reading as much as I can, but I have a question. Is it possible to have the ai...
