Re: Frsky updates

I believe the Jumper R8 cannot support standard SPort for external telemetry sensors, although it may work with some flight controllers that use non-inverted SPort.

João: Please point me to the details of the DIY D8 Rx, I may look to see if my D16 firmware could run on it.

It should do, it is working OK with the internal modules on a X9D and a X9D+.

Re: ACCST D16 2.X.X

I've flashed a X9D+ (internal module) and a X8R. The X9D+ will bind to a D8 Rx, but the X8R doesn't bind in D8 mode (channels 7&8 linked at power up).
I tried the X9D+ in D8 mode, and external XJT (old firmware) in D8 mode and a DJT.

Re: Frsky updates

I would expect the multi-protocol module to support D16 V2 quite soon. I already have some dumps of the protocol and I think I can see what is needed.

I've updated an internal XJT on a Taranis plus and a X8R (LBT), and they bind and operate OK (on the bench).

Re: FRSKY R9M compatibility?

er9xProv822m.zip should work fine, and includes support for FLEX and setting frequency and power.
Use eepe.zip with this.
Only use eepeV2.zip if you are using er9xV2, the EEPROM structure is very different for V2.

Re: Receiver numbers

Currently it is assigned manually in the protocol menu.
When you bind a receiver, the receiver does store the Rx # and only responds to the Tx if the Rx # matches.
Yes you may move the Rx to different 'planes and either keep the Rx # te same or rebind with a different Rx #.

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

Here is the sketch for a 3.3V, 8MHz Arduino Pro Mini. If you want to use a 5V Pro Mini, or a Nano, they will operate on 3.3V, so the 16MHz clock is too fast for reliable operation. The sketch has some commented lines that divide the clock by 2 for these. The connector on the 9Xtreme has "SPI" marked...

Re: FrSky PPM output from Rx and Taranis Trainer port

The Taranis trainer output is 3.3V, so is the same as the receiver. Possibly, the receiver output is inverted compared to the Taranis. With erskyTx firmware on the Taranis, you have an option to invert the trainer output signal, maybe openTx can do the same, so you might be able to see if it only wo...

I have a "proof of concept" working, so this is all possible.
Just a bit more time needed to put it all together.

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

The cables look correct from both of your posts. For the board, it needs to run from 3.3V, so the 5V Nano at 16MHz is not the best choice, but will probably work. A 3.3V Pro Mini at 8MHz would be best, although you would then also need a FTDI type device to flash it. I plan on trying a Pro Mini firs...

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

This looks like it is possible, but I need to put together a sketch (firmware) for an Arduino Pro Mini to respond to the SPI and handle the encoder. Much of the code from the I2C version will copy across. I have some changed firmware for the 9Xtreme that polls over the SPI every 10mS (same as the I2...

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

There is a 6-way connector, labelled "SPI", near the 15 expansion pads. There is a possibility I may be able to use that to connect to an Arduino to implement the encoder. The main problem is probably obtaining the matching connector. The pins are on a 1.5mm pitch. The SPI signals are normally being...

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

Let's just check what you have installed. There are three serial ports available. One is the SPort in the module bay.
The other two are on the expansion connector.
Do you have a module installed internally using one of these for telemetry?
Where is your bluetooth module connected (exactly)?

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

As you are using a BT module already, this is using the same port/connections as are used by the Arduino method of connecting the encoder. As I haven't completed the possible development of using the Arduino to provide both connections, you will (currently) need to connect your encoder to the 9X boa...

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

Rad: Do you have bluetooth installed? If not, adding the encoder is straightforward.
João: The idea (of the incomplete development) is to have both the encoder and bluetooth working together, including the ability to power off the BT module.

Re: What else can I upgrade in my radio?

Yes, I do have a sketch that runs on an Arduino Pro-Mini and handles the encoder, and yes it does use the connections for bluetooth.
I have done some work on making the sketch handle both bluetooth and the encoder, but haven't had time to finish it!

Re: eepe Software and Telemetry Tab

Just wondering if you could reduce the receiver antenna sensitivity in the model. Perhaps, put the active part of the antenna inside a (large diameter, perhaps 10mm?) metal or carbon tube. Another possibility is to wrap the active part around a (10mm?) diameter, non-conductive rod (avoiding sharp be...

Re: er9x development

Around line 8140 of menus.cpp, change + 3 to + 4:

Code: Select all

#ifdef SWITCH_MAPPING
        uint8_t a = inputs_subview ;
				if ( a != 0 ) a = a * 6 + 4 ;		// 0, 9, 15
				switchDisplay( 2*FW-2, a ) ;
				switchDisplay( 17*FW-2, a+3 ) ;
and you will remove TRN and get LI back.

Re: eepe Software and Telemetry Tab

The XJT module does return SWR instead of Tx RSSI (TSSI), so the value you see is the SWR value, just has the wrong name. Newer revisions of er9x show the correct name. The latest released revision of er9x is 821, probably worth updating to this. No way to tell what firmware is in the XJT without fl...

Re: eepe Software and Telemetry Tab

I don't think there are any guides!
For the module tab, just connect a serial port from the computer to the serial port on the back of the module, set the COM port at the top of the window, click the Start button, then Read Alarms or Set alarms.
I'm not sure if it works with a XJT.

Re: Control my quadcopter from my computer through 9XRP

Are you running erskyTx or openTx on the 'PRO? If erskyTx, then you have two options: 1. Use a USB to serial adapter on the computer and connect the serial output to the COM2, then send SBUS at 57600 baud. This is supported in eepskye in the simulator. 2. If you have added a bluetooth module to the ...

Anything more complicated will wait until I've released R222.

Possibly, a safe change for the logical switches would be to force the editing to be done using the sub menu only.
