Re: Did XJT protocol change?

So, if the Horus firmware beats on the module output continuously, how is the actual frame rate established? With the receiver itself? My FrSky XJT module arrives today, so I should be able to resolve this mystery. I did reflash the firmware on the X10S numerous times, tried various SYSTEM folders (...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

I suppose this could actually be the data sent to the internal module, not the external module. I did this over 3 years ago. PXX over UART to internal module only started with X12S, so didn't exist 3 years ago. Hmmm.. well that capture was done on May 5th, 2014 according to the time stamps on the l...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

Perhaps this will help you. Look at the pictures I just took of my Taranis that was used for the capture shown above. So, this data is coming out of the external module port on the PPM pin, and our module decodes this just fine. I suppose this could actually be the data sent to the internal module, ...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

Ignore what the caption of the analyzer says (async serial). The decoding shown is a custom plug-in I made just to decode the XJT's bitstuffed datastream. We have sold hundreds (maybe as many as a thousand by now) JR transmitter modules specifically for the Taranis (and now X10/X12) owners. This has...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

Yes, the first capture is 100% correct. It is from my Taranis set to output the XJT D16 protocol. The header byte is 0x7E and the frame also ends with 0x7E, but there is data after that (presumably for telemetry, which I ignore). This has been working perfectly this way for years now. With the firmw...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

I looked at the OpenTx PXX support and there doesn't appear to be much difference between 2.1 and 2.2, but 2.1 works and 2.2 doesn't. However, it seems to be much worse of a problem than I thought. I have a brand new X10S. It came with 1.1.02 firmware. I put our JR module into the external port and ...

Re: Did XJT protocol change?

Is there some kind of documentation or release note about this? I would like to get it fixed if there is actually a problem. So, far only one person has had this issue. I don't have it with the new X10S that I received (stock Horus firmware).

Thanks!

Did XJT protocol change?

I have had one person report that v2.2.0 and later firmware does not work with the XPS XtremeLink module in XJT D-16 mode. V2.1.x and earlier works fine. So, did something change in the XJT protocol between with the release of v2.2.0?

Thanks!

Re: PXX work

Thanks for the info! I just updated to v2.0.13 and I will do some testing. I have had a few people report that v2.0.13 works fine, so perhaps people were trying to use v2.0.10 and that is the cause.

Re: PXX work

The only details I have are the module no longer sees a valid XJT D16 signal - the LED on our module stays solid red like there is no data. Normally, the LED will toggle on every valid incoming packet. Going back to v2.0.8 or earlier results in everything working correctly. I am still using the orig...

Re: PXX work

I have had reports by several people that v2.0.8 was the last version of the firmware that works with the Taranis and the XJT D16 emulation of our module. Any idea what changed?

Re: PXX work

I have decoded the stream. I see a packet every 9ms that is 20 bytes long. I set the Taranis for external module using XJT D16, CH1-16. I have channel 1 set to 125% (2140us) and channels 2-16 set to 100% (1500us). I see this data stream: Packet 1: 0x7E, 0x00,0x00,0x00 - this is Sync, Rx ID, Flags1, ...

Re: PXX work

This is our XtremeLink module, which is competition to FrSky. Since the individuals that were going to add the Xtreme protocol to Taranis have decided there is a conflict of interest, they won't be doing it. So, I have opted to support the DJT D16 protocol directly. I just need to know the actual pr...

Re: PXX work

Is there a current document for the PXX/DJT D16 protocol? The document shown early in this thread talks about maybe extending the protocol to 16 channels. I would like to add this protocol to our existing module. I see from the logic analyzer capture that the frames are 9ms. Is 100% of the 16 channe...

Re: XPS module protocol

The frame rate determines the servo output pulse rate. You need to adjust the frame rate to the type of servos you are using, or change the servos to match your frame rate. :) Yes, we have telemetry being returned, but it is typically available only via a laptop with our telemetry station device. Ou...

Re: XPS module protocol

I made a protocol that has a packet length based on the number of channels and can be changed on the fly, so it makes the smallest/fastest possible data transfer packets. The protocol I presented on page 1 requires a maximum of 1184us to send 16 channels of data. This is the latency introduced by th...

Re: XPS module protocol

It only takes 4 video transmitters to completely wipe out the 2.4Ghz band so that nothing connects or flys. Can't argue with that, but in 2008 you didn't hop sufficiently, now you do, but by denying the problem at the time you made customers who had problems outraged! You still have that legacy of ...

No, the information he presented was fabricated, and we produced a series of videos ex...

Re: XPS module protocol

Nobody has *ever* yelled at anyone from XPS, ever. Your 'facts' are make believe because we have never had a crash at Bennett Field...period. I have flow everything from pattern planes to my turbines there. In fact, Danny and Alan Szabo setup and test flew the world's first TREX 600 flown on 2.4GHz ...

Re: XPS module protocol

Wow... come back to check on things and I see the naysayers are out. Corrections... no crashes with XPS in Henderson (Bennett Field), I am not sure where that came from... yep, we have been there many, many times for shows too. We were the first company to bring full range 2.4GHz to R/C. Before Spek...

Re: XPS module protocol

the PXX protocol to the XJT module basically has transisitions every 8uS (125kbps). Is there detailed info on this format (other than what's in the C source code)? Like a simple chart or list of bytes and their functions? Supporting the DJT would be a start while waiting for someone to step up to t...

Re: XPS module protocol

I am not so much interested in sales of modules, I am more concerned about reducing the latency. Everything in our system runs at 250Kbps (over-air speed and local packets), so it can support frames as low as about 3ms with 7 channels. I know the standard frame rate with the DJT setup is suppose to ...

XPS module protocol

We have sold about 50 XPS JR modules for people wanting to use them with the Taranis, and I am getting questions from customers concerning the speed of using PPM vs. other protocols. Our module works fine in PPM mode (once you set the shift to be correct), and you can use up to 16 channels - but its...
