Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Hi, Its been a while, but work on the DIY tracker is ongoing. Since last autumn I have been working on an OSD, which sends data to the tracker using unused parts of the Video signal. The Hardware uses an STM32F4 rather than a dedicated video ic, so allowing it to do vector graphics: [BBvideo 425,350...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Now managed to get the FSK demodulation done in software oboard the STM32F4 on the ground side to compliment to software conversion to FSK on the airborns side. Airborne side conversion to FSK source Ground side demodulation source Tested to around 1km on my 25 mW 5.8 GHz Vtx and works pretty well. ...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Hi Kaos, It looks OK. Adding the impedance match is just a question of soldering on the little square of tin. It isnt critical but has to be about the right position off the base. around a 1/4 turn round. The only problem may be kewping the wire in place, but you could use the former off my tin can ...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Hi Kaos. If the Helical doesnt work you can always use the wire and make my DIY one! But otherwise we will have to figure out the rules of the challenge. As for prizes, I will have to have a cup of tea as I'm teetotal! A guy on fpvhub.com (my local fpv forum) has just posted maiden flight pics of hi...

getting there. ;) I was test making a helical antenna using a 0.8mm MIG wire (the only wire i have laying around) with your template to get a feel. found the MIG wire is too stiff and after winding through the template it ended up with a 2cm diameter helical. :P It won't stay centered around the pl...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Here is a picture of the extension board for the tracker on the ground. It plugs into the Discovery board and a IDC connector plugs in to that for most of the I/O. As you can see I am using my original Tracker for testing, so as to keep my V2 for flying. The board in the pic is double sided single h...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Hi Leo, Its true that the code isnt Arduino compatible. However if you want to persevere then you could try writing a raw C or C++ application (e.g Hello World ) . To compile and build the application you already have a C/C++ compiler.. Its the avr-gcc that Arduino uses (On my system the compiler is...

Re: DIY Antenna project with FrSky Telemetry

Hello skyscraper, Does your code parse the standard NMEA messages? If so, I think it would be possible to tap the serial connection between the gps module and the i2c-gps-nav. At least in my setup the i2c-gps-nav is only parsing the serial NMEA messages that are coming from the gps. Regards, Leo Hi...
