I found if you setup a timer triggered custom switch and use this to re-trigger the alarm (and with low alarm) the low alarm will continuously be set.

All good 1 thing I missed “was to setup a custom function for the trainer”

"Standard" voice on gruvin uses the SOMO-14D module. AFAIK it's nearly (or completely) the same as the emartee module, but it was directly connected to the many spare ports the bigger CPU has. So no latch and backlight trick, thus the Megasound board probably won't be directly compatible....

It has a speaker mod and can generate a number of different tones through the speaker.
I still have the beeper in this radio; if “A1” alarm goes red it will sound the beeper
But if the link is lost you get nothing.

The USB operation MUST have 2 pins. Clearly they MUST also be on the same port, and one of them MUST be capable of generating an interrupt.
