Nice job. The case looks great too.

Re: Arduino Due add on to 9X
Would the board design be released as open source hardware? If so count me in as a backer. How much do you think it would cost for a small run?

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
If you are interested, I also have a 3d printable case on thingiverse that has wider tolerances.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
So this is a Taranis quality issue? If the dm9 and other common JR modules don't fit, shouldn't people ask for a replacement transmitter? I would be rather upset myself. They aren't cheap like the 9x.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Try the case alone. Does it line up? If so, solder the molex connector with a scrap male header inserted (simulating the taranis header). That way it ensures the pins aren't slightly off due to soldering. I also tape down the molex connector before soldering.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I think we had one report that modules from DM8 don't work. However, I don't have first hand experience. The problem could be a slightly different pin out or protocol difference. I would measure some of the pins and try it out.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Thanks! I also added more solder to the pins then used good solder wick. That worked best for me.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I believe the caps on the parts list are polarized. The longer leg is positive. Can you try reverting the taranis config?

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
The black insulator isn't necessary, but useful for spacing if you are using a socket on the new PCB. Just make sure that the module back isn't contacting any metal on the PCB. You could use any nonconductive material or even electrical tape.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Bustedwing, how are you binding? On the 9x with er9x you hold the trainer switch while powering on. You could try er9x? Just making sure.
The output voltage is OK on the IC? Maybe it was fried? Polarity on the caps are correct? They may be in reversed?

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Is the LD117V33 shorting out one of the caps? It looks like it could be touching. Or maybe that is just the photo angle. Also make sure the board is seated and connecting with all the pins on the radio.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Also, some dsmx tx modules have issues binding with older receivers. There is a spektrum warranty posting about it.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Another user said Taranis needed the resistor. You could try that. Check polarity on the diode and caps. They could be flipped.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
From what I have read the module pulled from a dm8 is a similar pin out and form factor but may not work. However, some versions may work. I would try it any way.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Thanks! Yes model match works. I tried the hobbyking orange jr module which doesn't have model match. That is why I started on this project. We could do a group buy to make it cost effective. Hopefully get someone to handle the soldering and shipping. How much is one worth? Total cost needs to be ar...

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Finished the 3D Printable JR Module case for my JR-DSMX printed circuit board. The JR-DSMX board enables pulling TX modules from Spektrum radios (DX4e, DX5e, DX6i, MLP4DSM, etc) and using them with OpenTX or ER9X radios (Turnigy 9X, Turnigy 9XR, Taranis, etc). This version requires a UFL to RP-SMA c...

I could mail 3d printed cases, but it may be cheaper to find a local hacker space. International shipping has been about $13.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I will post the part list tomorrow and links to digikey. The case is still being optimized. I have two extra unopened spektrum cases. I think I will like the printed version better. The case stl file should be posted to thingiverse this weekend.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I don't mind ordering from OSH Park. I will post the BOM soon. It works in a spektrum case. I am almost done designing a case. The kickstarter printer I ordered just arrived and finally have most of the problems resolved with it.

Hi, sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have enough extra parts for 4 fully populated boards. I will solder and send them out tested. PM me. I think you need a few posts before you can PM.
Thanks,
