The Project Design Concept

I realized I had never talked about the "WHY?!" of this project. Where my main build thread is over on RCG, they know about most of my other projects. It is in the sailboat forum. I could much more easily just grabbed a Jumper T18 Pro and have been done with it. In fact at this point I hav...

Re: 9XR-Pro into Vintage Futaba FP Build, questions and progress pics!

I agree! There have only been a couple items that I had trouble finding and seemed out of place. For the most part, SUPER easy to find what you are looking for! I went through all this trouble, BECAUSE I wanted to use this firmware on my radio. Especially with the limitations of trying to keep it lo...

Re: 9XR-Pro into Vintage Futaba FP Build, questions and progress pics!

Sweet! Trim buttons are sorted and installed! The "should" be working but I haven't actually tested them yet. I can do that here shortly though. EDIT: Well, mostly working... For some reason, the throttle stick trims were only moving in one direction. After resoldering it twice, I now have...

Mike I am running your ersky9xr version with the encoder updates. Will this be ported over into that too? This is JUST the ticket! But don't want to loose the encoder bits to get it.

Re: 9Xr-Pro navigation and other questions

Okay so with some tweaks, the encoder does 98% of what the nav buttons do. MikeB made a couple changes to the firmware. AUPER HAPPY! Too many functions on this utilize the trims. I will do away with the Futaba ratchet trims. Still leaves me with two sliders and a pot. So the 3 the 9XR comes with. Ha...

Might as well leave it then. I have a bunch of HC-05 and/or HC-06 modules. Not sure what I would need bluetooth for, I can crash my planes perfectly fine without help.

That is super cool! And yeah no way to hodge it into my idea... Oh well! Well it looks like everything I set out to figure out for this thread, is pretty well sorted. Thank you guys! And especially thank you Mike!!! I’m going to recase it into the Futaba in the next day or so. Oh one last random que...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

Haha well I did state it was likely user error! Humm... I am looking through my RCG threads and can't find this, but I thought my idea was expanding on what somebody else had already done. But I did find a reference to something else that sounds familiar, so maybe it was all my idea. Is there ...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

I selected the script that was in there if it isn't a default script, then it is a remnant left behind from previous owner. Let me go grab the radio... Okay it is S6R.bas. Good chance it is simply a broken script. I tried to navigate with the menu and navi buttons, locked up. As far as I know I do n...

Reinhard, that is a super cool build! I saw that a couple days ago, when I discovered there was a specific sub-forum for our "case modding". Ooop, oh well! On the side like that was one of my alternate placement thoughts, the other would be to use the back. But my final choice is s...

Okay edited above with version info! If you want to make something small just for the trims, you can use something similar to this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5PCS-10-10-7-9MM-5-Way-Momentary-Square-Tactile-Tact-Switch-SMD-SMT-6-Pin/151723927080?hash=item2353736628:g:eZ4AAOSwyQtVid8k Miguel Now that, ...

The latest and greatest! Whatever test version you put out there for me the other day lol. The one you made so the encoder would navigate through most of the home screens. Okay it is ersky9x-A4r223 09.10.2020 REVB-X. Clarification, where the encoder doesn't work is radio powered up. radio setup/gene...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

I wrote up a nice response, and must not have hit the submit button.... I am upgraded to 3.0 now, and the encoder works perfectly in it! Maintenance mode from inside the radio menu doesn't work without the menu navi button, the encoder for whatever reason doesn't do it. A short press on the encoder ...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

I have bootloader 1.1 (if that makes any difference) and the encoder doesn't work in it. I just took a look through the ErskyT homepage and links and do not see anything for updating the boot loader or about it. Also with USB plugged in it goes into a different "USB" mode. A look around th...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

Cool! When I do that though can I select the rom file from the laptop, or do I still need those navi buttons on the TX? I had to use the left side arrows for selecting, then the menu button or exit buttons to burn or cancel. Does hooking it up to laptop force through whatever rom is selected in eeps...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

Lol yeah my Futaba doesn’t have navigation buttons. Would prefer to keep it that way haha! But the encoder setup now allows me to do 100% of what I thought I might need. I thought it looked like a few less pages. But I can now access anything I really need to. More is better always, but it allows fo...

It seems to work great! Thank you Mike! I am not sure what global variable is/are though... ? I went in and set encoder for mai...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

[expletive] I stumbled across a problem. I am not sure if I have a setting somewhere wrong, or if the software just can't do this. I can navigate all around the setup menus with the encoder. The encoder button does menu and exit. All works great there. But I can't figure out an encoder method, or at...

Re: 9XR-Pro into Vintage Futaba FP Build, questions and progress pics!

And YES the encoder gives FULL navigation functionality! I am almost ready to swapperoo. The next step to work on is the trim buttons. Looks like I’m going to have to use them.... I may wait to deal with this with the M9 gimbal bezels. Haven’t really stared at the trim parts closely yet. Gimbals... ...

You say the encoder works, but poorly. Is this with it connected to the board and running erskyTx and giving poor operation? Mike Yes, maybe(?), yes. Encoder hooked up. Fully now with button working too thank you! Running ersky9x-r222 (REVB-X). Not sure if this is the one you modified? It usually g...

Re: HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

Thank you Mike!!! Yeah I do want the RGB working... But that won’t happen now, with this particular one lol. So the cheap chinesium bluetooth RGB module claimed a 3-30 v in and a 5v out. NOPE! It is a 3-30v out. So I let the smoke out. Oops. If I had used a WORKING bench meter, or even looked closer...

HELP PLEASE! Possible encoder issue, don't want to fry the new board...

Okay I have a very important question that staring at the schematics for the 9XR-Pro here isn't clearly answering. I can't find a schematic for the rotary encoder hookup. I can see the hookup diagram for the board, and the ecu pin out side of it in the full on schematics. But it leaves this question...

Re: Switch feedback and power wiring issues in 9XR-P case mod project

BTW, I GOT IT WORKING!!! I decided to stick with an electron plan of attack I am proficient in. I used a micro relay. I added a 3pin JST to the top of the 5v regulator and grabbed ground, switched battery, and 5v there (not using the 5v yet, but I probably will). I used that ground and the switched ...

"Dead Horse" 9XR-P lcd availability, info. alternatives?

There must be a dozen threads and posts on this. They all lead to broken links (one claiming adult websites had infected my Mac with a virus.exe...), unverified recommendations, or modify and use an (also unavailable) 9X replacement. Ideally, I would like one that is the same size as the original. B...

Re: 9XR-Pro into Vintage Futaba FP Build, questions and progress pics!

Progress made!!! I now have the switch powering up the mainboard and the analog power meter. The micro relay did the trick nicely. I used the 5v regulator pins to supply the switched battery power. I soldered a plug to it and also ran the 5v output back. I will use that to power up the RGB controlle...
