Re: ERSKY9X Coding

That fixed it, thanks. Strangely enough, Cu5 was the only one displaying 'blank' (or anything other than the correct 'Cusx' label) but when I went to the Telemetry|Sensors screen, all of the labels had rubbish (special characters) in them - Cu5 had what appeared to be spaces -- but Cus5 was the only...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Mike, Using r222d3 - is there anything special about the field/label 'Cus5' on the QX7 for r222d3? On my 9XRPro, if I try to select it from a list (say, Telemetry or Scaler) it appears in the list where it should be and is set to the place I am trying to use it (in r222d3). On my QX7 using r222d3, t...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Thanks very much, Mike - much appreciated - will download this morning and update both radios - I'll still trying to understand why my Pro has turned rogue, but will keep using my QX7 as my main radio until I decide what to do with the Pro.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Mike, Could you produce a test version for QX7 which includes the Cls1 and Cls2 totalling for the 1st and 2nd MLVSS devices, please? I am moving all of my planes to my QX7 as my 9XRPro, even with new, longer, pins in the module bay, still is not reliable. I am not sure where to go next with it - eit...

Hi Mike,
Any advance on the test results for the double rate issue on 9XRPro with external XJT?

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

I prefer the X10S to the X12S because it's newer, is lighter and has the Li-ion battery (versus NiMh of X12S). But, I prefer ErSky9x over OpenTx or FrOS. If colour and marketing 'freebies' added in to make a sale were irrelevant to you - that is, a radio to radio choice -- if you could have a new X1...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Mike, Pardon my ignorance in the following question(s), but I usually only pay attention to things related to ErSky9x on 9XRPro and QX7 (I have each). In the event that I decide to upgrade (in the unlikely even that I cannot get my 9XRPro back to being reliable) to either the Horus x10S or the Horus...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Thanks - my module bay in the 9XRPro is already lined on two sides with pieces of foam double-sided tape (but with the outer side still covered with the protective covering) to give the module a snugger fit - I made it that way as soon as I got it several years ago.

Mike,
Are you expecting that these values might change when I get the failure? To check that, I need some time at home tomorrow.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Ok, couldn't resist - just grabbed my radio and did a test.
I get 2328 2328 without Double Rate selected, I get 1194 1194 with Double Rate Selected.
Gotta run.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Thanks, Mike - will download and get back to you after I've tried it, but I might not give feedback until later tomorrow (Saturday) our time, as I'm just about to leave this morning for an overnight stay away (and, no planes allowed). Thanks for persisting on this issue -- and, lots of luck in your ...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

I did, I do and it was in failsafe with motor stopped, but a sidewind overcame the slight rudder I had mixed in. It glided ever so softly and straight and level - straight into a big tree 350m away, across the other side of a creek from our field's boundary. Fortunately, we are able to walk across a...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Ok, Mike - thanks for the feedback - with a little luck, you can get the time to resolve. As for now, I will not use Double Rate at all, especially on the 9XRPro with XJT, where I extensively use Rx Number(s)! One flyaway is enough  That said, if you do not get time to resolve it for a while, i...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

I'll see if I can add something to tell me about the timing of the doublerate. When I first added it, it didn't work as I had the second data frame overlapping the first. Today, I ran the following test inside my workshop on a single S6R (from yesterday's test group) with 9XRPRo, ErSky9xr222c9 and external XJT module with firmware XJT_141016.frk: Connect 2x regular servos, 1x u/c servo to ESC and Battery with switch, power on Radio, then (a) power on Rx with bind but...

Ok, it does seem as though I am moving down a 'possible suspect' path here - thanks for the additional information. Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Mike, just FYI -- I just now went to by hobby shed and tried this same testing on 1x S6R and 1x X4R (from this afternoon's group) with the internal XJT module of my QX7 on Rx Number(s) 13 and 38 -- in a few minutes of testing across those combinations, I could not reproduce a failure.

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Thanks, kilrah. Yes, I've seen reports of a problem with Rx number-related issues with initially achieving a bind, but this XJT module is less than 12 months old and I have not experienced any of the reported problems with binding with SxR Rxs - as you might guess, I have a few -- 20x S6R and 5xS8R....

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Hi Mike, Well, I believe I finally have something predictable for you to look at. I can now reliably induce the failure and remove it. I believe the failure mode is somehow related to Rx Number, though the technical reasons as to why will have to wait for your feedback. Here's why I believe there is...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Sorry, my early morning typo madness - yes, XJT_141016.frk, not XJT_141017.frk XJT_NONEU_170317.frk didn't appear to be relevant to me - should I be running my external XJT on that, anyway? Re: ERSKY9X Coding

The XJT firmware version in the internal module of the QX7 is whatever came with it from the factory when they were first introduced a year or two ago - is there a way I can check that version number? In the external XJT module, the firmware is XJT_141017.frk, the latest fcc (non-EU) one on FrSky-rc...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

Hi Mike, Regarding my 'loss of bind' problem: A thought occurred to me that maybe I overlooked before - on the 9XRPro, is the PB14 mod also required before the Double Rate option will work or can they be used separately? Since the QX7 already has the PB14 Heartbeat equivalent by default and you are ...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

That's a recommendation people with knowledge and common sense would give you. The user manual for the MLVSS also does have a note about not supporting combination for more than 6s. Ok, guess I hadn't spoken with any of those people with knowledge and common sense about the comparisons of the MLVSS...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

BTW, the only warning I have found about the MLVSS is to not put two of them in series - nothing about not being recommended (or, conversely, FLVSS being recommended instead) for systems which require two devices (in any combination, except as noted below). From both the FrSky-rc site and the HorusR...
