Re: Turnigy 9XR Pro and FrSky R-XSR Receiver Firmware Update

Hi, I tried to use Turnigy 9XR Pro with latest available R221g1 to update firmware on FrSky R-XSR receiver, following the steps from the PDF on this forum. Because of the 12V Vbat on the module pin, I used external power with GND and Vin connected (Vin was with the switch in-between, as per instruc...

Re: Combining flight modes with auxiliary function switches

More details are now available in Arduplane v4 docs.
Selecting a flight mode by RCn_OPTION and a switch, overrides the current mode. Switching off reverts to previous mode.
Any free channel can be used.
This is currently only available in Arduplane v4.0.

Re: 9XR PRO FRSKY Telemetry

I increased the timeout to 4.5 and it has solved the problem. Any less and it gets worse.
In Ardupilot there is a way to prioritise telemetry packets, but it is done by group not individual items.

Re: 9XR PRO FRSKY Telemetry

I am having an intermittent problem. FasV is not displayed continuously. Most of the time it displays 0.0v, but every now and then it briefly shows the correct voltage. Other values such as GPS, mAh, etc. show without problems. Voltage on the GCS shows OK at all times I used to have Smartport FLVSS ...

Combining flight modes with auxiliary function switches

With Ardupilot, it is possible to configure auxiliary functions on any channel using RCx_OPTION. Typically these would be controlling landing gear, camera trigger, etc. But they can also be used to initiate a flight mode such as RTL, Auto, etc. See: http://ardupilot.org/plane/docs/plane-auxiliary-fu...

Re: No telemetry from Matek F405-Wing

Turns out that the F405-Wing cannot handle inverted Smartport telemetry from the X8R. So 2 options: 1) telemetry adapter cable e.g. C&T 2) use a receiver that can provide a non-inverted Smartport signal -- either by design or soldering a wire to a pad or existing joint on the receiver circuit board....

No telemetry from Matek F405-Wing with X8R

I have installed the latest Arduplane beta 4 on the F405-Wing. Arduplane 4 has new serial parameters to configure UARTs for Frsky telemetry. I have ersky9x-pa4r222 installed on the radio. Previously with a Pixhawk and C&T adapter cable this was working well using SERIAL5_PROTOCOL 10 on Arducopter 3....

Re: RSSI radio values not matching GCS

A few more recent observations: I now have Arduplane running on a Matek F405-Wing. I have set the Arduplane rssi params: RSSI_TYPE 1 RSSI_ANA_PIN 15 RSSI_PIN_HIGH 3.3 RSSI_PIN_LOW 0 The rssi signal lead on the X8R receiver is connected to the rssi pin on the FC. The receiver is connected to the FC v...

Re: 9XR PRO FRSKY Telemetry

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here. I have a problem with telemetry and more precisely with the altitude reading. I've tried different settings but no ideas anymore. My equipment: Turnigy 9xr pro with XJT and on the other side X8R, C&T telemetry cable, Mauh PM, FLVSS (lipo sensor). Here is screensho...

RSSI radio values not matching GCS

I have Frsky X8R paired with the XJT module. The RSSI port on the receiver is connected to the SBUS port on the Pixhawk as per Arducopter docs (RSSI_ANA_PIN = 103). The hi voltage setting in Mission Planner (RSSI_PIN_HI) is set to 3.3v. For example, 1) radio shows a RSSI value of 90, but Mission Pla...

Set them on the small pins and carefully replace the faceplate which will hold them in place.
Look at the horizontal trim buttons, they fit the same.

Re: Questions about RSSI

That is normal. The range check reduces the power to simulate a long distance.
Move the radio 30 metres away with the model about 1 metre above the ground Check the RSSI value, a safe reading would be 45+.

Re: Voice setup for APM 6 Modes with Ail D/R and Aux3 Way Switch

I verified, that it is working. And it is a really simple setup. Even though I had some problems to get it working. But only due to my faults. You need only one single entry in the "Voice Alert" menu. You only set the Switch field to "Fmd", the Trigger field to "All" and the name of the voice file ...

Re: Voice setup for APM 6 Modes with Ail D/R and Aux3 Way Switch

Defining 6 logical switches using 2 & 3-way switches and then using them in the voice alerts is simple and clear. This is how I did it too using 6 of the named voice files from the voice package ;)

Re: Keep breaking XJT modules

I noticed that there is a slight movement of the module when clipped in the back of the radio, so I secured it with 2 pieces of electrical tape on either side of the module. I don't know if that will help, but I have never had a single problem.

Minor issues found in R221.
There is no help topic for "EEPROM". Radio Setup/EEPROM page shows "Disabled (see Help)"
Page name inconsistent with menu item - Menu "Radio Setup", page title "Radio SETUP".

Unable to arm with radio stick (left)

For some weird reason starting today, my 9XR-Pro refuses to arm the Pixhawk. This is done by [left stick full down & full left].
Using the Sik telemetry radios and Tower app on my phone it does arm.
I checked that I got -100 showing on the radio screen for the stick movements.
Any other ideas?

Re: No data showing on radio with R221

They are supposed to get migrated automatically when you load a model. This is handled by the model data having a version number. This is displayed in r221 at the top of the Model Setup|General menu and is 4 for r221. Did you simply flash the new firmware? Please, if possible, detail exactly what s...

No data showing on radio with R221

After flashing r221, all telemetry values, including Tx, are zero. I can arm the pixhawk, so I assume I have radio contact.
Switching back to r220, everything is normal . . .

Update: it looks like the Protocol settings in the models are not migrated during the upgrade.

Whenever my team released a new product or major version, I would take the entire team out for dinner. So, I would hope the R&D director would do the same for the ersky team ;)
