Re: Adding MAVLINK support

Mike I have been thinking about how to integrate your arduino making converter into apm and I got thinking about the 32u that's on the apm as a usb:serial and ppm encoder. On most apms the ppm encoder can bypassed by soldering a jumper pad on the bottom freeing it up. So my thought was if i could lo...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

On the topic of baud settings, I thought I would add this special note for anyone considering using the 3.3V Arduino Pro Mini instead of the 5V version. I didn't see any reference to the 3.3V version elsewhere on this thread, so I gather most are using 5V. I needed to use the 3.3V version because I...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

Mavlink cannot be used over frsky rc.

You would have to use an UHF system that supports it like Openlrs, dragonlink v3 or tbs crossfire.

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

I've done another commit, this one should return a RSSI value, when operating in the Tx. I can't test it though as I don't have anything that will send an RSSI value! Mike. if its just apm you are using for testing then just enable the rssi pin and connect it to either ground or 5v to test 0 and 10...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

I've just committed the updated sources to Github. There is a new mode, enabled by connecting IO6 to ground, when in SPort mode. With this, then the SPort output will send the 'polling' bytes as well as the data bytes, and not require polling. Mike. excellent news! I will try it as soon as I can. h...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

i have built a 3dr radio module into a jr module along with the telemetry adapters and bluetooth so it gets frsky telemetry via the 433 3dr radios.

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

the problem with mavlink support on opentx is the code has not changed since the 9x so you cant use any of the mavlink data for alarms or alerts like you can with frsky. the poller inject a fake rssi and swr so the taranis will accept the telemetry. i think your adapter is also putting out rssi so i...

i have managed to get your converter between the openlrs and taranis working by connecting another arduino up and getting it to do the polling. i used this running in parallel on the s.port wire http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2245978 im sure you could do the polling on your converte...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

ah ok, it would be far more flexable if you put the polling functionally into the mavlink>frsky converter. I currently use your adapters with frsky on opentx 2.1.8 and just name the values manually but i would really like to use it with openlrs or 3dr radios just having the adapter on the ground sid...

Re: Adding MAVLINK support

I found this and I see they have added polling to the library and to get it to show on taranis they are just inserting a fake rssi. if you added this to your arduino board as an option then it would be able to run either air or ground side and inject rc rssi from the apm instead. http://www.rcgroups...

what version of opentx are you using to get telemetry with xjt? as far as i knew it only worked with er9x.

no you missunderstand, you only click it once and it will always put out telemetry without having mission planner connected, its the same procedure if your using a minimosd.

Re: Mavlink Telemetry on 9XR Pro Apparently Works - But Need Some Clarification!

Mike what would be ideal is a Mavlink to frsky adapter that puts out framed frsky like a djt, so it can sit between the openlrs and any frsky capable handset either opentx or er9x. this is the only project i have seen that puts frsky telemetry directly into the handset, if that could be grafted onto...

Re: Mavlink Telemetry on 9XR Pro Apparently Works - But Need Some Clarification!

What firmware are you using (or what firmware did you port fro the SKY board)? Mavlink isn't supported directly on ersky9x at present so I'm very curious about this. Even using a ttl level modified DJT, the only hardware change needed on the 9XR-PRO is the wire from J8 pin TX1 to the 'C' pad to get...

Re: Mavlink Telemetry on 9XR Pro Apparently Works - But Need Some Clarification!

you are correct in that it would stop operation with sport xjt, i use a modified djt with ttl mod so that i can swap between openlrs and frsky telemetry by just changing modules since both are on ttl levels. The 9XR-PRO was designed to support both inverted RS2323 levels and inverted or non-inverte...

Re: Mavlink Telemetry on 9XR Pro Apparently Works - But Need Some Clarification!

I have been through er9x and and mavlink and it just doesn't work I don't think the mavlink code had been changed in years so it showed very little info and none of the flight modes were accurate. I used to use opentx-mavlink on my 9x and 9xr bit it was limited to mavlink only. The version I'm using...
