Faulty FrSky D8R-11 Plus rx.

A short explanation for at least some of my travails in getting an openXsensor working.
I discovered that the receiver I was using to test it was faulty.
Very poor range and intermittent RSSI.

My apologies for no picking this up earlier.

Jim.

Success!

I now have both functions working on the same arduino nano board. BN180 GPS and BMP280 baro Variometer. Same sketch as I have been trying for weeks now, before this, without success. The only thing I have done differently is to power the GPS sensor off 3.3 volts and not 5 volts, as previously. Wow! ...

Jim, this is now your NOT WORKING BMP280 + GPS oXs ??

Karl,
Please read my post above.
I have quoted your words, exactly as you asked. The quote at the top of my post clearly indicated: "working GPS oXs".

Re: New nano and uno boards arrived.

There is a conflict around the respective 12C address's I am advised. I read instructions somewhere that the adafruit library for the BN-180 has to be downloaded and edited with the 12C address changed to xx76. The BN-180 communicates with TX RX, NOT over I2C bus! So why should you change an addres...

Re: RPM resolution?

When you program a board in the arduino IDE that button is called Upload. Yes, I do understand that. Thanks for the reply. So, do I "upload" the adafruit library for the respective sensor(s) to the arduino first? Then do the main sketch after? It seems to me this last step would erase the first. Co...

Re: New to openXsensor - GPS and smartport question

Indeed, if you have a 5V regulated power supply, you can connect it to the 5V pin GPS can also be connected this way. Still when using e.g. a 4.8 V NiMh battery, the voltage when it is just charged is more than 6V. It is then safier to use VIN (= RAW). When input voltage goes below 5.5V on VIN, the...

Apologies for the late reply.

Hi Jim, My understanding of these things is 'raw' means you can power the board with anything from 5-12V on the "Vin" pin - so in the case where you're powering Vin from a higher than 5V voltage source, then you need to use the regulated 5V that the board puts out on pin "5V" to provide power to the...
