Re: speaker hiss

The backlight is LED, which runs on DC. So no inverter. It most likely comes down to either a) I didn't use a high enough quality speaker; b) the switching regulators are producing too much noise; c) I didn't get the ground path right (since i have zero experience with audio, I wouldn't be surprise...

Re: speaker hiss

Those with a loud noise from the speaker, please check the value of two resistors on the board if possible. Just below the speaker connector is the audio amp chip (very small 8-pin device). Just below that are two resistors. One should be 120K and the other 130K. There is a 10K resistor in series w...

Is everyone using a LIPO to power their tx? Maybe I'm getting some sort of bleed through there? Gonna try with batteries later and see if there is any change.
I wondered the same and am using a Life battery but then dusted off the original AA battery pack and that didn't make any difference.

Yes but they're the same brand/model but different sizes (Samsung EVO 32gb/64gb).

The additional noise you can hear in gb's video as the voice file is playing is identical.

Re: speaker hiss

I have installed the audio files and get a 'warble' when speaking as well as a hiss (when the voice portion is not in action). The attached video demonstrates the hiss pretty clearly I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIknaq6MFnI That's exactly what I'm getting although your video pickup is c...

LMAO and a sense a humor, stop showing off :p

Just ordered a couple of different speakers for testing, worth me updating the original post with suggestions/things-tried/bounty?

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

I'm glad it was brought up. Nobody's expecting perfection. Im personally pretty elated that the biggest problems with this project is an incorrect screw size and a humming speaker that wasn't even expected to make it in the first batch. Here here, you should be taking a well deserved bow right now :)

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

We keep beating this up and because we tech types like to solve issues, I'll also look into it. I honestly think it's in the same noise range of the all the the other systems we've used here over the last 3-4 years. I can't hear it outside at the 3 club fields I fly at. They are near a freeway, or ...

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

ShowMaster, I do get your point and don't want to be one of those people but it doesn't hurt to put a bounty on it and see if it can be fixed. It sounds like you have a professional flying field and I'm leaping that you're not an FPV pilot. In the UK (well for me at least) I'm often sitting in the c...

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

Please do a little test. Go to Radio Setup/Hardware menu. Check if there is an option called "Software Vol." If so turn it OFF and see if the noise is still there. Don't make your radio speak after changing because it might be at full volume if you change that option.. This is just to try...

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

I have an idea. Remove yout RF module if you have an external one, or if you have an internal one, create a new model with the protocol set to OFF. This will turn the module OFF. See if it still does the same noise. It is known that RF introduce noise on the speaker. All my radios have that problem...

Re: 9Xtreme Connecting XJT Module

Thanks for posting this Bob, was just about to start looking at connecting my DJT module for telemetry. I see you've gone for the rear connection but I did see a pic of someone soldering to the back of the board inside the 9x (effectively the back of the pin headers that slot into the DJT module). I...

Re: 9Xtreme speaker hiss

S_mack, appreciate the brutal honesty but don't do yourself an injustice. It's a great priece of kit and you've done a superb job, I've got more prototypes than I care to admit to, that never quite achieved half of what they were meant to or got anywhere near production for that matter. I'm also act...

Re: eepe on linux

Turn your radio ON while holding both horizontal trims towards the center of the radio. The radio will start in bootloader mode. Now connect the usb cable between the tx and the computer. 2 drives will appear on the screen. One is the SD Card and the other is the physical memory from the radio whic...

Re: eepe on linux

I'm using eepesky but getting "Tx Disk Not Found" which I assume to be USB device driver issue, there seems to be an array of drivers available, any recommendations?

I'm about to try Zadig given what I've read: http://zadig.akeo.ie/

speaker hiss

The 9Xtreme appears to be working well in all other circumstances but I've got an annoying hiss coming from the speaker. Previously had the 9x solder-less programmer board installed and no other mods have been made. I did read someone else had mentioned something about a buzz on the main thread here...
