Closing down SmartieParts. Get em while you can.
Hi folks, I started SmartieParts.com back in 2005, importing German smart car parts for the North American market. 2008 I developed my own electronic car parts for that car. 2010 I got into RC and started making the various programmers, etc for the 9X. 2015 brought about the 9Xtreme and SPBasic boar...

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
I'd love to assist... but my home burned this summer. Huge amount of time dedicated to that. I don't even have a computer to pull up the files on yet

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
OK, I've uploaded the files. However, I used a program that most of you are probably not familiar with. I know most hobbyists use Eagle, but I've never been fond of it. My preference is DipTrace. It does have a free version, but it is limited to 300 pins and this project is well beyond that. There i...

I'm terribly sorry, I completely forgot to update with the layout files. I'll do that in a few minutes. I'll update the first post.

Re: Blank screen after flashing opentx
Matzeeg3, did you go through the troubleshooting items I posted?
My guess is you didn't have the radio on. Flashing an unpowered target can erase it, but not program it.

Re: Blank screen after flashing opentx
Generally very good advice. NEVER use the -F option!
However, in this case, it can't cause a problem because a connection to the target doesn't exist

Re: Blank screen after flashing opentx
That error, "Target doesn't answer", is covered on the product page under the FAQ tab... relevant section pasted below: AVRDUDE Error: Target doesn't answer This error indicates a problem between the programmer and the 9X. It has nothing to do with the USB connection to the computer. It is...

All true. The uploaded schematic is the "as-built" version and includes no subsequent corrections. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Weird. I tried again and it still didn't. Is it on this post?
Nope. Dangit... what's going on?
Edit: OK, I think I got it working. I had to add a 2nd file and then the first showed up. Weird.

Re: 9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
Schematic attached to the original post. What do people want? Bill of materials? Layout files? I used Diptrace to make them but I don't think very many people use that. Most people seem to use Eagle.

9Xtreme being released to the public domain (opensource)
With Mike B's blessing, I will be soon releasing the complete files for the 9Xtreme to the public domain so customers can better repair damaged units or build a new one. I intended to already have this done, but I've been busy with other things. I'm putting this post here as a placeholder and I will...

Re: SP basic rev 1.1
The Spbasic is just a purpose built usbasp programmer, so any tutorial on flashing firmware to your 9x is relevant. I'm sorry, I'm on the road now, otherwise I would post a link to one. But Google "how to flash er9x" (or opentx).

Re: 9Xtreme V2? Or Discontinued?
Sales are too slow. There won't be another batch. I'm not even making the minimums that the warehouse requires, so I'm getting hit with significant storage fees now. I suggest getting them while you can. ps. "upgraded" was going to be a couple of very minor changes unnoticed by most, so no...

Re: Problem with last new Hobbyking Turnigy 9X transmiters.
From my experience with Chinese marketing... there's not necessarily a reason to believe they are different chips or that they found a problem and switched. The different markings are most likely indicative of there being multiple manufacturers/factories working from the same reference design. For m...

Re: Problem with last new Hobbyking Turnigy 9X transmiters.
The original chip was Atmega64A-AU. At some point last year they started mixing in Atmega128A-AU - probably going with whatever was available since they weren't utilizing the extra benefits the 128 offers. I'm sure I have extras of both chips in my office, but I've not been able to find them (what a...

Re: Problem with last new Hobbyking Turnigy 9X transmiters.
I already ordered 3. One from HK USA-W warehouse a couple of weeks ago. It had Atmel. Another from HK International warehouse. Same... Atmel. But that was in August. I ordered another from the International warehouse on the 30th. I tried asking them to send me one with the new chip but HK staff had ...

I disagree with that logic entirely. I'm not saying your conclusion is wrong (and certainly "precaution" is absolutely valid)... just the entire logic it is based on. Look at what you said: - Mike found documentation for *some other* clone for *some other* Atmel device that showed differen...

Re: Problem with last new Hobbyking Turnigy 9X transmiters.
From everything I've read... at best we have circumstantial evidence. Every single report is unsubstantiated. There have been DOZENS of "intermittent switches" and reboots and etc etc on genuine Atmel chips too. Because some people have bad switches, bad power, or (usually) bad logic and a...

Re: 9Xtreme not working
In my experience, Zadig is a cause of USB problems, not a resolution for them. It should be entirely unnecessary for the 9Xtreme anyway, as the drivers it provides are not related to it. However, it does install some generic base level USB drivers that should be in EVERY modern system, so perhaps yo...

Re: 9Xtreme not working
When you say "Eurgle branded", my first thought... is it a V1 circuit board? I don't really hear the Eurgle name much anymore since the first years of the 9X's release. From the FAQ: Regardless of what the seller of your radio told you, there's no way to know what version your board is unt...

Re: 9Xtreme V2? Or Discontinued?
I thought they were pretty good quality! I was impressed with them. The adhesive comes in a bagillion varieties so perhaps it wasn't the best one for the application (although the majority of feedback was that there was no issue).
