Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

i think if you maintain a fixed-sized deque and the sum of N samples, then, after the initial N samples, the subsequent computation would be O(1) instead of O(N). sum -= oldest sum += newest avg = sum/N Well, it depends on number of moving average samples. But for each sample you have one addition. ...

aitch
you need to select what items you want to display on the telemetry info summary screen. that would be through the per model configuration pages. the wiki describes it well.

Re: open9x-r1439

i tried wshh vario with LIMIT=-10.0/0.0 today and it works as expected: rapid chirps on thermal climbs as well as on significant descents. woohoo, again! so i believe LIMIT=OFF/0.0 is not really "off" for descent but rather it is similar to LIMIT=0.0/0.0, which means start chirping when th...

Re: open9x-r1439

If you are flying on slopes ALT- makes sense and fear too!!! (sometimes    ) ah, thanks for the explanation. i think my understanding of the vario limit setting might be wrong. does LIMIT=OFF/0.0 also mean that the speaker will beep whenever the plane is descending? that would mean t...

Re: open9x-r1439

i tried using WSHH as a vario today. my vario settings are SOURCE=DATA, LIMIT=OFF/-1.00 (i also tried LIMIT=OFF/0.00). chirps are slow when the plane is on the ground. chirps also get must faster when the airplane is climbing. both are expected, which is great. however, i also hear chirps when the p...

Re: question about frsky-wshh vario

i tried setting up the radio (open9x) custom and function switches with the following. custom switch: cs1 d>ofs v1=Ail v2=5 (i used Ail instead of Alt for testing) function switch: cs1 beep the radio beeps each time the Ail value increases by 5 (great). however, it also does require that the value k...

Re: question about frsky-wshh vario

You could achieve a similar function in the mean time using the 'd > ofs' option in the custom switches. Rob thanks for the description. i'm trying to see how to workaround with 'v > ofs'. in my case, v (Alt) is the absolute altitude (in feet), but i need a rate of change instead. is this possible ...

Re: question about frsky-wshh vario

Yep, I am using the how high module and connecting to the Rx through the serial link. The altitude reporting is fine, but the vario part is not working for me. In the vario source, the choices are frsky, halycon, a1 or a2. So I chose frsky. How does open9x determine rate of climb in this mode? Perha...

question about frsky-wshh vario

hey all my tx is a t9x stock board, frsky djt and telemetry mods running open9x. the rx is a d4fr-ii connected to a wshh (winged shadow how high) module in frsky serial output mode (connected to the digital rx signal on the d4fr-ii). on the tx telemetry config screen, i set the protocol to "wsh...

Re: eurgle 9x er9x range prob

yes, i do understand not to point the antenna directly at the plane. and i don't normally do so as well. but there was a such stark contrast with my previous sd10g (which would work in any orientation at such a close range), this system gave me much less confidence if i were to take the glider much ...

Re: eurgle 9x er9x range prob

a question: if you point your antenna directly at a plane (with the 6ch rx), how much range would we expect? i replaced my sd10g and fhss1 rx with the er9x and turnigy 6ch v2 rx. was REALLY surprised that at close dist (approx 200-300 ft), just pointing the antenna at the plane would result in loss ...

Re: eurgle 9x er9x range prob

Make sure your receiver antenna didn't move during flight. Also make sure the antenna was placed correctly. Meaning away from any metal, (Servos, motor, etc.) Also do not mount the antenna next to the fuel tank. Fuel can block the 2.4 signal. The software running in the radio doesn't affect the RF ...

transmitter module case

where can i buy the case for the tx module? i would like to port over the module from an airtronics 5-ch fhss-1 transmitter. i have not probed the signals yet, but it looks like a simple ppm-ish serial link from the controller to the module with a separate bind button connection. the atx tx module i...

Re: Ultrafire in the transmitter

I have always found it very very tight to fit these two cells in the battery bay. My more recent version of this idea is to use 4AA sized trustfires. 2 packs in parallel - then series. Result is a receiver size pack that delivers 8.5 volts. Typical lifetime of the pack seems to be circa 8-9 hours. ...

another potential and cheap source for these joysticks is the wii nunchuk controller.

find a friend that built a multicopter with the accelerometer from the nunchuk and desolder the mini joystick from there. not too sure of the VR value, though.

Re: Ultrafire in the transmitter

i'm planning to do this mod (maybe starting with just two 14500s in series first). lots of questions :) - what is the voltage to set for the tx battery alarm? - does the tx need about around 2v margin for the regulator to work? - if i go to 4 batteries, should i connect 2 cells in parallel and then ...
