Re: Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device

AH! ... I just tried dfu-util on my Mac, even though I have no Companion software for that. I get much better results ... $ dfu-util -l ... Found DFU: [0483:df11] devnum=0, cfg=1, intf=0, alt=0, name="@Internal Flash /0x08000000/04*016Kg,01*064Kg,07*128Kg" Found DFU: [0483:df11] devnum=0, ...

Re: Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device

Did you do the Zadig driver step before launching dfu-util? I tried. It doesn't work. There's nothing in the drop-down list -- no STM32 BOOTLOADER option or anything else to install. Yes, I ran it as Administrator. I also tried downloading and installing the dfu USB driver suggested by Fr-Sky. But ...

Re: Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device

OK. So I eventually saw a single reference to the word "bootloader" and wondered if maybe that was something special. So, I googled that and finally found a file named bootloader.pdf. Yay. Information about this would be very nice to have on open-tx.org. EDIT: And I'd be happy to write tha...

I've since installed v2.0.5 firmware, using DfuSe Demo. No change. Companion still cannot find the radio.

Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device

RESOLVED: In short, we don't need dfu-util any more, now that we have a bootloader. See here for details . My Taranis arrived today. Trying to get it connected to Companion, under Windows 8.x When trying to read the radio's firmware, I get, "Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device...

Re: Is the Taranis for everyone

I believe, a lot of questions can be answered with some templates ... They certainly can. Beyond that of course, templates are a one shot affair. When it comes to, "how do I change this or that", then they are of less use -- especially for more complex mixer set-ups, like helicopters -- c...

Re: Include a Tutorial/library CD with the Taranis

What would help a lot of new guys to this product, would be a CD or DVD that comes with the Taranis, that contains all the possible Templates, Pdf files of all user manuals, videos, ie. all the stuff which would help new users. Good idea. Only, CDs and DVDs are obsolete now, are they not? If not, t...

Re: Is the Taranis for everyone

Interesting idea. I was thinking more, "less tweaks" being available. The code could (and should) easily be written into the main firmware. The point as I saw it was to reduce functionality -- to make things simpler -- whilst automating complex "input", "mixer" and &quo...

Re: Is the Taranis for everyone

I think that for me certainly, I need it to function at a interface level more like a JR set. My three cents worth, as I sit here waiting for my new Taranis to arrive ... Possibly not enough is said up front in the marketing material to warn how different the programming model is on the Taranis, co...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods

Now about the Rx number in DSM mode, it seems correctly displayed and modifiable in Companion, would you double check please? Incidentally, I note that Companion (and presumably the firmware too) does not allow RX number 0 (zero) to be selected. It's no biggie. I have just one model that I'll have ...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods

I just added DSM2 support. As I don't have a DSM2 external module, I can't test myself! I am finally getting a Taranis, as a birthday present! Haven't been able to afford one previously. I still have about 50% DSM models. Did you ever get this finished and tested? I see it's in Companion. (I don't ...

Getting your own G9X PCB's made

Hello The number of enquiries for obtaining G9X v4.x PCBs is increasing, despite the gruvin9x project having all but ended some time ago and the gruvin9x.com store no longer stocking the boards. It just doesn't make much sense any more, having the boards come all the way to New Zealand, only to be r...

Re: Voice possible?

Voice on the gruvin9x board currently uses the SOMO-14D module. I don't think that the poor 2560 is able to read PCM from the SD and send it to the speaker. Agreed. There simply won't be enough CPU horsepower to do this without compromising RC control (mostly because there's no DMA controller avail...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims

What I mentioned above as possible reason for my board to NOT have the problem: I tried to measure the inductivity from the trim switch ground to the plane ground. And my instrument (0.001uH resolution) does show 0.000 uH Should I have measured anything at the in circuit inductivities or must an id...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims

Geoff, you -- and Mike B but I somehow missed it -- have nailed it. Guess what?! ... There is indeed no digital ground connected to ONLY the HORIZONTAL trim switches. The vertical trim switches get digital ground, while the horizontal ones get only analog ground, which is then passed on up to the po...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims

Finished lunch. You know, if there is no digital ground getting to the switches at all (as opposed to one being there and also shorted to AVss, as I have so far asserted) then there is indeed a big problem. It would mean there could be a very high voltage back EMF spike generated from the AVss 10uH ...

Re: 9x upgrade to ATmega128A3-AU + Reboot With Horiz Trims

Bryan, go back to post #86 of this thread. Mike B points out that there is no digital ground for the horizontal trims. When one is switched this causes the voltage to ring from very high to very low. This seems to cause the reset. For unknown reasons the m64 is unaffected. -Gohst I can't see any po...

Thought I'd check in on this subject -- thanks to Tom in Aussie for bringing it to my attention. Here's my few cents worth on the topic ... 1. I have never personally experienced the trim-crash problem. I have one client (Tom) who has had it on a G9X v4.2 board, which was replaced. My understanding ...
