Re: Binding Turnigy 9X-9Xtreme to FrSky D4R-II
The plug in modules have 2 dip switches. That is what the directions are referring to. In the case of the diy, your toggle switch goes in the middle for a telemetry type rx (which you have). To bind start with both the tx and rx off. Then while holding the rx button, power up the rx. Then hold the b...

Re: Channel 5 heli gain
It's really quite simple. From 0-100 will be HH or AVCS. Then the other way is the opposite. The further you are from 0 the higher the gain will be. The simplest approach is to use a switch on channel 5, and set the endpoints to the gain that you want.

Re: Model Setup Help?
I read through most of this thread pretty fast so pardon me if I missed something. Nmryon it seems that you might not understand what each of the control channels for the helicopter is doing. Channel 1 is the throttle. This simply controls the motor speed. Specktrum radios use curves that go from 0-...

I don't have an altimeter in my aircraft. It looks like I'm below 400ft. Also that 400 feet is above ground level anyway, or you would only be able to fly near oceans. -

A sticky throttle cut for helis was part of my template setup from a long time ago. It simply took the standard throttle cut, and made sure it couldn't be unlatched unless the 3-way switch was on ID0. Like João says, you use a separate switch for throttle hold, from throttle kill. No need to fly to ...

Re: Snap Roll Function
It would be fine to have snap roll kick in with the aileron stick. But put the function on a switch so you can enable it when you are expecting it. So you would have normal function. Then flip the switch enabling your snap roll function. While that is enabled you can give full aileron stick to do a ...

The |x| curve means 'the absolute value of x', a math term. If you feed that curve positive values then the output will just equal the input, however if you give it negative values, then the output will be the same but positive again. What did your mixer line look like where you tried to use |x|? -g...

You need to reference the curve everywhere you need it to apply. So yes it needs to be on 1, 2, and 6.

Set an extra replace mix on the throttle channel that moves it to 50% when switch f is pulled.

On the first page of the model settings, you might need to enable the external ppm. I've been trying openTx lately, and an upgrade created the same problem for me.

Try adding "-B 10" to the avrdude command line. Slowing it down might be just the trick to make it work.

Forget about the possible reboot problem for a second. Trim switches fail. In the case of the 2 switch method you would need 2 to fail for the radio to be stuck. With only needing to hold 1 switch you could be stuck with an inoperative radio.

Sounds like you are off a screen, I have a 9x so I would use the left and right buttons to switch between sets of channels that are displayed. There must be something similar on taranis. The really nice thing about Frsky that you don't get with the other systems is telemetry. Note: you can get telemetry but it is $$$! And so it will warn you possibly before you have problems. I've mounted my' flimsy' antennas in plastic antenna tubes. Now they are not so flimsy. And helps keep prope...

Er9x vs OpenTx is kind of like Coke or Pepsi. It is a matter of personal preference. Try both of them, and then pick which you feel better with. They are both based on each other, and so are pretty similar. So, most of what you learn in one will transfer to the other.

Sorry didn't realize that multiplying was advanced maths. It is very simple to add mine. Just go into the mixer screen, then go down to the mixer line for AIL Which should appear like it does above "100% AIL", then add a mixer to that channel. In the edit screen set the source to S1, the w...

Or even easier, use a multiply mix.
Like this
100% AIL
*50% S1 offset(100)
The 50% weight and offset of 100 makes the pot work from 0 to 100.
