Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

I've got a few tweaks I need to commit, but the encoder 'should' work in most screens. Try LONG LEFT, then the encoder should move between menus. Press the encoder switch, and you should go up and down, press the switch again and you should be able to edit the entry. LONG press the switch should ta...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

What PCB did you use? It should have holes in it to allow those pieces of plastic to move into. Mike. You are correct. I didn't see this when I first dissembled; but I did when reassembling. So this is not it - and I really am not sure what happened for such a strange fault. Can't explain it with a...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

So I had a go at removing it with a hacksaw blade and it has seemingly gone quite well. Perhaps 15mins max. Saw each side; remove 2 pins; repeat. No seeming board damage. Of course when I remove the whole thing, the wheel seems like it is OK (grrrr - dont like not knowing what caused a fault - and s...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

I managed to cut the board off with a dremel cut off wheel and a thin "diamond" coated bit. I think I am done with this mod for my sky9x board. I am going to solder the push buttons back on and call it quits. Looks like I am facing a similiar situation to Crucial (but for different reasons). I post...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I'm running r122 with the standard switches, LONG UP and LONG DOWN still work. I have a 7-way, rotary encoder installed on a stock board. With this, it is quite sensitive. Sometimes when I press LONG UP, it works like LONG LEFT. I think both the UP and LEFT switches switch together, I have to be qu...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

(hoping this is the right spot for this question). I have recently loaded R122, and (fyi) also tinyapp successfully. Just before this, I also installed the rotary encoder which appears to mostly work well. What has stopped working is the long press up /down just go to Radio setup (like long press le...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

Finally I have installed my rotary encoder. Reading through all the notes, and pics from others was very helpful, but this took several hours by the time when it was done. Specific notes from my install: - Removing old switches: - cutting pins from old switches with sharp sidecutters, then desolderi...

Re: RN-42 Bluetooth

MikeB, interestingly; when I finally got my HobbyKing FTDI ; I followed the instructions (using putty on win 7) and rapidly found out it was still set to the default settings of 9600. A few minutes later, I had it set to 115200. Reinstalled in the radio and a few minutes later than that I had workin...

Re: Continual battery low indication

..Ersky9x measures and accumulates the total current used by the Tx. If this total (in mAh) exceeds the limit set, then the low battery alarm is triggered. This is almost certainly what you were getting. When you charge you battery you need to go to the 'Battery' screen, where you can see the mAh u...

Re: RN-42 Bluetooth

Ok that is good. I can't recall what my connect timing was now!
If one does not have a connected Bluetooth device; does this work again?
(I have a USB-bt adaptor coming to investigate).

thanks terabyte; but still it eludes me. However I have a programmer to change it to 115K coming; will look at it then. I also documented bluetooth in the wiki; please take a look and make any mods or suggestions and I will document. http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/Sky9X_Mainboard_Upgrade#Blu...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area

I have added some material to the Wiki (a section on Bill of Material"). When building mine, I mainly found it was hard to get an overview of what I needed. Took a very long time reading the forums to find out what was an option and what the specs for something were. This attempts to address that; b...

Re: RN-42 Bluetooth

I have had no success connecting my Bluechip Neon phone (el cheapo) to RN-42/JY-MCU Module It pairs instantly, simply wont connect with FRSY Dashboard , FRS Logger or Blueterm. Clive Hmm. A lot of tinkering without getting bluetooth going. Like Clivew; I have the JY-MCU bluetooth which one can conn...

Re: ERSKY9x Rev. B1 User Area

Do you have wiki rights? Always room for more editors. As a new user with a mostly built ersky9x, I noted the hardware wiki is basic; and many other of the related mods need a lot of reading. I have made some notes and photos and would be happy to work on the wiki. How do I get editor rights - and ...

Re: optrex displays

In fitting the optrex display as per the wiki, in trimming the display to fit; if I trim the top edges, it fits better, but does not fit flush i.e. sits up slightly at the top. Do I have to trim something else? (answering my own question) This post explains it does not sit down quite flat. It does s...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

As for production, I'll etch boards if people want them. On the other hand, cutting them out, drilling, soldering and such is looking like more work than I'm really interested in doing at this point... I am interested in a 2 x pcb . Any ideas on timing? Other - Is there any interest on packaging a ...
