As some of you may already have picked up - some shops have received a pre-production Taranis.

In the UK, Richard from T9 has passed the Taranis on to Johnathan Wells. @jonathanw

A quote from Richard as follows:
Hi guys just to keep you abreast of things, we got our first production Taranis set at T9 to oggle This set has been sent to us for Jonathan Wells who is now a sponsored pilot by Frsky, for his valuation.

Jonathan is a successful pilot both in F3B and F3J in the UK and will know how to get the best out of the Taranis. He will be offering his thoughts about the hardware and software programming for glider use over the next couple of weeks untill the first batch arrive!

Our first thoughts are the quailty is good and the feel of the TX in hand is good. The sticks feel very smooth. Jonathan will probably give you more details soon.

I had a chat with Johnathan about 20 minutes back, and he has kindly agreed to use this thread for posting any questions and general experiences of the radio, programming it, flashing etc.

As one of Jonothans first jobs to do will be to look at re-flashing the radio - I figure some guidance on software requirements and setup would be a good starting point!

Hi Rob,

I’ve only just noticed your last post sorry.

Thank you for helping me with updating the firmware.
I’m going dynamic soaring tomorrow and will be testing the Taranis.

No problem. I should have held back and not flashed before checking myself!

Please double check your model works as expected after the update. Always safer to check!.

I look forward to hearing how you get on. Would also be great to get your thoughts on the vario?

Testing the FrSky Taranis

I thought it would be a good test for Taranis flying one my ds models.

I’m very happy with the TX. I can't believe the Taranis’s capability for it’s price. This flight was recorded on the TX’s internal memory card, I can view the RSSI, Battery voltage and stick positions for this flight WoW.

I have tested the Vario in an f3j model, it’s very accurate. I went slope soaring the other day in light wind/lift hooked a thermal that had just lifted and took it up to just under 1500ft limited by neck ache.

Here’s a video of my ds flight:

Cool!

Could you share the log file, we're currently looking at the RSSI instability issue, it would be nice to see someone else's results :)
