New telemetry screen with graphical bars

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

New telemetry screen with graphical bars

Post by bertrand35 »

Hi,

Today I will commit this new feature. It will be possible to have 1, 2, 3 or 4 bars on the 2nd telemetry screen. Each bar will be either solid or dotted (below threshold). Thresholds come either from A1/A2 alarms, or from virtual switches if they are used in a Function Switch.

It will be possible to display there: A1, A2, Altitude, RPMs, Fuel, Temperature 1, Temperature 2, Speed, Minimum cell voltage.

Here are some screens:

And the configuration screen for the bars (for configuration of the bar source, min and max):

Enjoy,
Bertrand.

Edit by your friendly MOD to remove quote from post directly above

This is not for er9x. It is for open9x!!

Worth having a look at it.. it is rather nice :D

I commited yesterday, so that it is possible to checkout, compile and try. First feedback from open9x users is really good. If everything continues well, I will release the new binaries tonight. Conversion between er9x and open9x EEPROMS is done automatically by companion9x during the flash operation (only one checkbox to check).

Ok please bring me up to date?
Is open9x another FW besides all the others, I suspect it is?
How does it relate to er9x and all Mikes work on the Frsky telemetry FW additions he's made?

New telemetry screen with graphical bars

Post by Rob Thomson »

Much like guvin9x, it is an er9x style fork.

Much of the code is the same - much of it looks the same. And then... In other areas it surpasses er9x.

All depends on the areas you want :)

The version with bars is released now!

You also have to update companion9x to take benefit from the automatic conversions from previous open9x EEPROM versions and from other firmwares (th9x, er9x, gruvin9x) EEPROMS.

To Showmaster, yes Mike's optimizations are integrated (thanks to him, everything would not fit otherwise), and I have added a lot of other optimizations. Also open9x has many options, all are displayed in companion9x Preferences dialog so that it's easy to choose the ones which fit to your needs.

Enjoy!

Hi,

Is there a possibility to assign special audio sound (Siren, ...) for Frsky alerts in latest Open9x like it is possible with ER9x ?
I choose the frsky+audio binary but didn't find anything like this in the menus.

Yes it's possible. You have to create a virtual switch depending on A1/A2 and then assign a sound to this switch in the FUNC SWITCHES menu. The same way can be used to have alarms depending on Altitude, RPMs, Motor temperature...

Bertrand.

PS: In the next open9x version I will add there GPS distance (from the pilot to the plane). And RSSI thresholds.

Since last version of open9x I received several messages like "where are the telemetry screens, have they been removed?". The answer is NO, they have not been removed, but moved to where they were before: in the main views you press [DOWN long]. And then you press Up/Down to navigate to all the TELEMETRY views. [EXIT] returns to the main views.

Also now it's possible to configure different RSSI alarms for each model.

Bertrand.
