*Note: 'Feel free to use these' , means exactly that. Feel free to use these in anything you have, or code, or write, or whatever. I've gotten some pm's and emails asking if they can use these, yes, you can, that's why they are here. It's all free to use, I all I ask, if you do include anything in a distrisbution or anyother compilation, that I get a small credit 'a.amberg' or 'Adrian Amberg' as contributing splash screens*

How to and answers


Check the zip file attached to this post. I will be adding zips of all the bmps.

Read the notes for each file, one will be all the images. The other(s) will just be the newer ones.

very cool,
so where do you save the file and how do you get it into the radio?

New version of eepe.

Start eepe, on the top menu, there will be a new icon, on the right top that will open up a replace splash dialog.
You now can look at the splash of you hex file or load a graphic to replace the splash screen in the hex file.
It's straight forward, you can navigate to whatever directory your images are in.

Just make sure the graphics you load are 2bit, amy more than that you will get random pixels on the loaded image.
(i'll post a sample later)

I like the current splash screen too...

I was thinking, since the eepe can now change the splash screen, why now just have a few packaged with it, one for gliders, heli, plane, and the current stock one , then the user can play around with it and customize their own radio the way they see fit?

The other thing, how about making it a poll of a few, from a few designers. It would be good to get a variety of styles and help with the creative juices. A collaboration to achieve a new splash for ER9X. (would be cool for ERSKY too). Just Ideas.



I'd go for the Dragon too.. oh wait.. mine is already.. wife likes it too. She doesn't fly, but likes to turn the radio off and on now to see the dragon lit up.. sigh.. kids...

Thanks leo, and erazz. Made it alot easier to change the screen. I now have an apache or blackhawk on there. NICE>!

I just did a quick test since I just found out about the splash screen thing in eepe so it took me about a minute total to do this. I just picked that image because it was right in front of me.

It would be nice to post a screen of one of the ones I did. Thanks.

can you use opposite contrast on the letters and put them in the middle of the chopper, along a horizontal centerline?

Did something different. see attached zip file of the bmp

Did I miss an attachment with all of your different screens? I didn't see any of the animals and such in anything I've downloaded.

I think I'm probably missing something here but what method are you all using to convert these awesome splash images from jpg to bmp? The method I used resulted in random black pixels throughout the image.

@ Crucial, I haven't zipped up all the bmp's yet. I made all those before the eepe upgrade to replace splash images was made. Originally it was to import jpg files, but... there are issues...

@Sporez , it's an easy fix, you have to make sure that the .bmp files are only 2bit. If you just load one of the jpg's from this page, and save as a bmp file, you will get the result you see. Random pixels everywhere. Just decrease the number of colours from 16mil (24bit) to 2bit, black and white, and this will fix the issue.

*I posted that in the first post about making sure the bmp files are only two colour, just after step 9 *

I tried opening the smaller jpg's in MS paint and saved them as a monochrome bmp and it seems to be working ok. When I tried it with one of the larger jpgs saving it as a monochrome introduced a bunch of random pixels like you described but it doesn't seem to do it with the smaller jpgs.
