Broken menu button. Need to replace.

Post by TimJC »

I managed to break my menu button a few months ago when I was installing the back light. The button on the board is what broke, though it still kinda works. It works intermittently, but I am afraid that it may accidentally register the menu presses to delete a model, maybe in flight. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement (ebay)? I'm not sure the stick length or what to search for (mini momentary switch?).

Thanks. Do you thinks this will work? It keeps me from having to pay more in shipping that the parts are worth.

I had one lined up wrong and tightened the board onto it and stuffed it... I have a spare radio for bits and pieces and tried to change it... Could not get it off the old board... How do you de-solder four pins at the same time..? Anyway I took it apart on the board and replaced the inners with the spare one... You need a lot of Patience and a steady hand but I did it... Put the tiny cover back on and a pin dab of ca held it together... Works as good as new but I wouldn't want to do it again...

You can use solder braid to soak up the solder from the pins. This will make it easier to remove.

I found a way to remove multi pin components... You use a solder pot and fill it to the top.. Then hold the board on top of it and when the solder melts lift the component with tweezers... Probably ruins the board but is a good way to harvest parts...
