Switchs summary screen ?

Post by Totoff »

Hi all,
as I think most of you, I'm having different models in my T9x for the differents machines I have but also sometimes different model for 1 specific machine..
Anyway, I took the habit to get a look to the mix menu before starting a session to be sure of the different use for my switchs & pots that can differ from one model to another, wich dometimes takes seconds to get in mind what i wanted to do with that mix.

I was wondering if it could be useful to add a screen in the setup with a small graphical view of the 9x where we could either give a short name for each pots/sticks or a generic view with numbers (ie S1,S2,P1,P2....) and an editable legend on the side.

That could allow to have a summary of the functions at one look before using the model.

Not sure if that something that can be done or not as i'm not able to program it myself, or either if that Would it be of any use for you as users?

Cheers,

Switchs summary screen ?

Not sure there would be enough flash for that!

Now.. Under open9x, the flight phase option displays the flight phase on the main screen...

This. An achieve a similar result as you want by changing the phase name when you toggle the switch?

with the audio mod we will have the possibility of assigning a voice to a switch. we will know exactly what switch does what without even going into the menus or turning the model on.. watch the little video. this is a test version of the firmware Mike is writing for the audio..

Yep, that feature could be "misused" to display up to 4 functions. Configure the switch for the flight phase, give a name, and configure the flight phase to change nothing (choose common trims).

The low-tech option is a post-it note on the model with the config details, when you take the model you pick the post it and look at it/stick it on the back of the radio, and put it back on the model when you're done ;)

I'd prefer the high-Tech option.. the radio will speak what the switches do. No papers to get lost, and it's fun   ;)

Except that won't happen unless we get a major change in how voice events are triggered...

Switchs summary screen ?

I would think that under open9x we could handle this with a function.

'playMedia'. ->. And you choose the file to play.

This could be assumed easily to a custom switch; in much the same way the current audio events are handled.

The only difference is you need to have an option to set the number of times it repeats the sound for the switch!

yes, at the moment we have to use a couple of custom switches to make it speak only once.. but this is going out of topic now and it's my fault. I do apologise..

That's what I meant. No way you can program an event on every switch at this point.

On open9x just trigger a sound would be a piece of cake indeed, just add a few items to the function switches list ("Play sound once", "Play sound and repeat often (8sec?)", "Play sound and repeat less often (20sec?)", and maybe "Switch sound" that automatically plays the specified sound once when the switch is activated, and the next sound once when the switch is deactivated so that we don't need 2 lines for that gear up/gear down type of thing).

Still would need a screen to setup spoken values, telemetry parameters etc,...
Screens should be the same for Sky9x implemtation btw.

yep, that's a nice thought.. ;)
But yes I could put voice on all switches at the moment, but as I said before it would be difficult.. But this is just started. First we wanted to make sure that the files play correctly, then comes the rest..

On the stock board, we have limits to what we can achieve due to the flash and EEPROM limitations. I am looking at what might be possible though.
On the SKY9X board we should be able to do much better.

well, voiced switch is already possible, we just need the info (battery voltage for example) on a switch too.. ;)

among other stuff like more custom switches

I'm considering add a "play voice once" feature. Each entry will allow you to select a switch and voice file. When the switch becomes ON, the voice file will play once. The switch may, of course, be !switch so a voice file would play when that switch is turned off.
I'm not sure which of the following options will be most effective in terms of the use of flash and EEPROM.
1. Choose switch and voice file for when switch becomes ON.
2. Choose switch and two voice files, one for ON and the other for OFF, but uses more EEPROM per entry.

The second would probably be best if ALL switches are likely to want both ON and OFF sounds.

There will be a limited number of entries (on the stock board) in this list which will need to appear in a menu somewhere and be stored in EEPROM.

Use one definable file number for activation, and the next number for deactivation. Saves that 2nd byte, then it's the user's job to name the files accordingly.

Mike, that sounds good, a question, what about ID0, ID1 and ID2?

When you are talking about Switch Summery Screen I'm thinking of the main screen where you can see if the switch is on or off.
Maybe it's the wrong place to address my question but....

I'm missing the ID0, ID1, ID2 info. Instead there is the Trainer switch.
I'm not using the TRN switch so often, and when I do I know it because I have to hold it.
So whats the need for that info?

Instead I want the ID position as it was on ER9x.

Can I change this myself or?

I use SVN ersky9x-r85

Use open9x. You have ID0/1/2 instead of TRN, and TRN is represented by setting that item to negative ;)
