companion9x.exe has stopped working

I started getting this error after recovering from a nasty fight with Nero Burning ROM. My PC is mostly back to normal, but Nero seems to have really hit my media setups hard.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled companion9x with no luck. I see that QT is the cause of many problems around here so I reinstalled that too. No luck.

For the heck of it, I went back and tried eePe and read my 9x memory. It worked.

Don't know what to try next, any ideas? It gives this error a few seconds after showing the splash screen.

UPDATE: I happened to have 1.47 lying around so I installed it. It comes up. What the heck?

UPDATE2: I went and found 1.50.. it works too.

UPDATE3: I upgraded to 1.51, and now it works. Weee!

I whipped out my old XP laptop, no issues with the first download. No other reports of problems either. I'd think the issue is on your side...

Crashes while the splash screen is still displayed.

Do you have any more detailed crash info you can get from Windows?

Really shooting in the wild there, but...
- Do you have automatic update check enabled? Can you try to disable (both for FW and companion)?
- What if you disable splash?

I downloaded it from Google CodeCompanion 1.52

btw, I really had some changes on my PC
Due to 'moving to GitHub' I installed and uninstalled 'SourceTree' several times and then I installed 'Toroise-Git'
Nothing else.

When I reinstall 1.51 it's working.

How can I disable the splash screen? It's still on the display when it crashes.

I never use automatic updates or automatic downloads and that PC normally is not connected to the internet.

Just reinstalled 1.51 and disabled the splash screen
Error comes up immediately when I start 1.52

Windows creates a informative file with the error something like ..._appcompat.txt

Would that be of any help to you?

Yes if you could copy the text in the window and paste it in a text file there could be a chance.

1.52 crashes for me too. 1.51 works fine. I am running win 7 pro 64bit.

Works great (Windows 7)! What was it, out of curiosity?

An error with the settings. We have renamed the firmwares to make them more clear (v4->gruvin for example) and it hadn't been changed everywhere leading to c9x trying to load something that didn't exist.

We're all mostly using the Taranis now (which is the only one that hasn't been renamed and thus didn't cause the crash when selected), and didn't notice the issue.
