Hi Kilrah,
Thank you showing me Subscribe topic button.
I looked high and low (mostly high) for something like this.
This will be a great help (I didn't want to be a: (What's he doing?) but could not find it, and I wanted to follow the developments in these topics).

Thank you again!

I will try to remove these post and use the Subscribe topic button, as I feel they are more of a distraction from the topic, ...... if I can still delete them?
It looks like they have become permanent after some time has past.

Edit: I went looking for them and it looks like you have fixed them for me. Thank You!

Well, we all have wondered how long the RTC back up battery would last. I think I got a pretty good test on it now. I replaced a brand new Duracell button battery(shelf life unknown) for RTC last March. 3 days ago, the RTC stopped functioning. so an average battery will last about 9 months in the Sky9x v.B1 board. ;)

I think the RTC is running all the time. May be it has something to to with Euro spec. ;)
9 months/ 1yr really does not matter, just interesting to see how much they vary.

It's also dependent on the leakage of the Schottky diodes used. Brent would know what he used. I had a B beta board and only got a month or 2 before I upgraded the diodes. The release board must have had upgrades to last 9mo.

Hello,

It seems I need to upgrade diodes too, my backup battery worked less than 6 months... it is dead now.
I have one of the first rev B boards

Edit : Can you tell me if it is what I need ?

I'd contact SkyNorth and ask him. That's what I did at the time. I got the new diodes from him when I bought my rev c board. I never could read the part number on them.

Skyboard B1. I would like to order an haptic motor. Could someone please post some specs? Also, do I need any other circuitry or does the motor connect directly to the board?
Thanks..

João

I use pancake motors, 2 of them. I hot glue one to inside the case front sides. I pay $1 for each of them locally. I run them in parallel. The Skyboard has everything onboard. Just connect them.
Do you have the schematics? Brent posted them and I should have the files. I have a B and a C version.
I believe I modified my boards to use the 5v buss for power since that regulator doesn't power the CPU. I has to add a series resistor to tame the motors on 5 volts.
More info of you need it.
PM me if you need motors.

Thanks Showmaster.. yeah it's getting a bit difficult finding the documentation as it is a bit scattered now, so any help is really welcome. I'm in the process of installing the 7 way encoder at the moment. Just need to solder the wires to it and tben solder it to the board. I thought I would have problems removing the original switches but all went good. Just cut them and removed the little legs after. The encoder board is 100% aligned with the holes. Will have to solder some shunts on the push buttons I think, or they won't work. Must find the docs for that also.

The top right mounting hole doesn't match the post so I can't put the screw. Is it a problem if I file the hole to the side a little bit? I don't know how many layers the PCB has and I'm afraid of cutting some track..

Thanks..

Just carefully run your exacto knife against the hole side that needs to elongate. Slowly elongate the hole to allow the screw to match up with the case mounting hole. That's what I did in my boards with no harm to the multilayers. Brent discovered that when his board source delivered all of them. Too late to fix. It may actually be covered in his topic on on the Skyboard site he supported. It's been awhile since I read it all.

Do you have the B1 board schematics and board layout?

I'm on it. I stopped by the electronics store for vibrator motors but seems someone bought them all out. Probably read my earlier posts and you'll find them on eBay now. All good as I have two for you. I bought extras when I was doing so many local mods.
I'll get them in the mail ASAP.

SkyNorth says this is the diode he used on the last board revision

Hmm, I think I have some BAT42W. Gotta check. Hopefully it will be the right size. Don't know how many sizes do exist.. anyway. Time to go to bed now. 6 in the morning but the skyboard is working.. haptic, bluetooth and backup battery left for tomorrow/today later ;) by the way Mike, I can see the connections for the BT but can't see where to connect that extra wire for programming tbe HC-05. Does the skyboard support it? Thanks..

Also when I connect the USB and then turn the radio on to enter bootloader, the backlight comes on as soon as I connect the usb cable. Then I turn the radio on and it takes around 10 seconds for the bootloader to connect. Much longer than the Pro. Is that normal?
Thanks

I think 1 is the correct value for these. Check on the DIAGANA screen. The (hex) numbers should be around 400 when a stick is at the centre. If they then go past 600 and 200 when the stick is at full travel then 1 is correct.

Also, I found a minor bug on the audio alarms but will report on the "ersky9x coding" thread.. ;)

The extra wire goes to the ERASE signal, just left of the encoder connector.

On mine, the backlight doesn't turn on (part of the Optrex display), and it connects within a second or so after switching on the Tx.
I think I'm running the prototype Rev 3 board, so there might be a difference, don't know what though!
