So....
We have three pads to connect the battery too on the sky board.
Which ones are + and -

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Looking at the board, with the connector to the right, the left most pin is ground, the middle pin is battery positive and the rightmost pin is the charge output if you need it.
For a 2032, just connect - to ground and + to the middle pin.
Mike.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Cool... That's what I thought it was... But the little square pad confused me.
Now... The funny thing is my time never saves!
Something else to look at tomorrow

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Check what version of the TinyApp you have. Or load up this one:
Mike.
It's my latest, not yet on the repository. It saves the time every two hours to the Tiny's EEPROM, so even if you lose the battery, the time does not get too out of date.Mike.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Have you installed the coprocessor program?

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
What would be good is a complete guide on how to flash the coprocessor.
I have seen the wiki page - but does not prove very helpful
I am not sure even which pins to plug into; and been scared off doing anything by the risk of blowing up the CPU!
So... Who fancies putting a step to step dummies guide together?
Something that a father who's kid is teething; and is desperately lacking in sleep can understand

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
So... I can do this all via samba?
I got the idea I needed to flash it via avrdude from the wiki!

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
You only need to flash it via avrdude if your coprocessor doesn't have a boot loader installed. If it does then you can use samba to install the tinyapp.bin. Ersky9x has a test screen that will tell you if your boot loader is installed. I don't know if open9x has something similar.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
I have now seen the correct docs.
Probably worth pulling the correct information to the wiki. The guide that Is there only helps if the boot loader is missing. Nothing tells you what to do if it is actually installed already

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
yep, it is getting confusing every day. Sky9X v.B batt is as described by Mike, but the V3 board is + on the right.
Mike: is this Tiny file in the above post includes the temp and RTC/03 version? I only have the RTC/02 version flashed.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Rev 3 , will have a battery holder , and the connections needed to change to get it to fit....
The Rev 3.0 drawings are not in final release, and should not be used for a Rev B1 board
This is the connections for the Rev B1 Board -Brent

Yes, it includes temp. and even saves the date/time every 2 hours to the EEPROM in the Tiny.kaos wrote:Mike: is this Tiny file in the above post includes the temp and RTC/03 version?

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
I loaded it any way last nihgt. now it shows 04 and the app made my cpu run 5-6 degree cooler.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
now, can someone explain a little to me about the temperature sensor. I can understand the built in sensor in CPU may not be accurate. but how a temp sensor in the Atiny (which is not in the CPU) can detect the temp in the CPU?
Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
The Temp sensor in the Tiny , is being used to calibrate the the ARMs temp sensor,
On power up both should be at the same temp.

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
On my setup I have 2 different temp readings. One is in the Long press up stat screen, this shows 36C. Then if I look at the radio settings screen DATE - TIME 6/10 this says 22. Which is the right one?
Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
got it. thx for the explanation.SkyNorth wrote:The Temp sensor in the Tiny , is being used to calibrate the the ARMs temp sensor,

Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
At the moment, the two temperature readings are just displayed as read from the two CPUs. I need to add some sort of calibration option to use the 'tiny's value to calibrate the Arm's value.

Rob, i try to maintain the wiki on the sky board. I believe the info is already there )Rob Thomson wrote:I have now seen the correct docs.

Added the polarity to the battery installation, somehow missed it it, when written an article in the first place.. Though on the Main Board Connections diagram i have added the connection for the battery...
Re: Polarity of battery backup terminals.
Oh, and one more thing - the libararies for sam-ba, in the wiki, are the latest ones by Mike, everytime Mike updates the libraries - i update the entire library archive and the wiki link correspondingly.
P.S. I've looked through the manual for the tinyapp.bin update procedure in the wiki, it looks quite straightforward to me. I'll look into the wiki tomorrow, and will do some cleaning and rewriting the troublesome spots. If possible - could please be more specific, what exactly seemed inapropriate and confusing? I'd be glad to make a manual more thorough.
