Modify OpenXVario to Sailboat

Hi.

I do lots of rc sailboat sailing.
Also I fly gliders.
I have openXvario on some my glider.
I just throw one in to sailboat. Its shoving heading and speed and gps location on telemetry. BUT..

It would be so cool if it would use compass to have better heading and some gyro to have some reading about heeling. How much does boat heel in different speeds and winds..

I can do some... Arduino stuff but this is way over from my understanding.

Can someone help to get compass and some gyro to working with openxvario (we could lose the vario, its not really doing nothing in sailboat.

this is possible but not very user friendly.

An alternative is using telemetry from a flightcontroler with iNav. An old F3 10 dof is perfectly suited and cheap - if you can get one. Newer FC work also of course.

I was hoping to getaway with arduino and compass and some gyro....
It would be still easy to waterproof...

Can you help with the code. I checked openxvario code and thats way over my understanding...
