9XR pro module choices
Hi all,
I do have a 9xr with an Assan module. I think I have more than 20 receivers for this setup.
Recently got the 9xr pro and I was looking at telemetry for this one. All my RX's are not telemetry prepared so I think I have to switch to an other system. So what should that be?
1. The Orange module using the internal antenna? (currently out of stock at HK)
2. An older orange module that I should modify to use the internal antenna and telemetry (is that an option?)
3. An frsky DJT module with a simple internal resistor mod for telemetry (is this going end of life at Frsky?)
4. An XJT frsky module that is telemetry ready but need modification to use the internal antenna.
I am not on FPV (is allowed no more at our country) but primarily flying electric pakflyers (1.8meters span max) and small gliders (eglider and DLG)
I was on the route buying the DJT module but then I noticed that Frsky will end their D type sensorline. On the XJT I don't like the pads on the receiver.
Orange is nice to bind BNF type planes. I need a small rx like the assan 4ch to fit in my mini DLG.
So many choices and I'm not very familiar with these matters so any advise is appreciated.

Why not the multi protocol module? You will be able to fly the frsky stuff, Flysky, the DSM stuff, and I believe Assan as well..

Sounds like a great option.
What version should I buy for the 9xr pro? I see JR, FlySky and Frsky.
Can I use the on board USB on the new module to flash the firmware?

I would buy the frsky version.. I am waiting for mine to arrive. They didn't have the frsky version when I bought it, so I got the JR version. I will have to flash it to the Frsky channel order. I think that might be the only difference, but not sure.
I believe the USB connector is for flashing it.. Will find out how it works when I get it Hopefully in the next few days

Think I go for the frsky version and do a search for internal antenna connection. I can produce the housing myself with my 3d printer

I have read that the channel order only matters if you use the module in PPM. 9XR pro module choices
Note that most of those range results are with various relatively short range receivers used in little helis. They have no necessary relationship to the range to be achieved with a full sensitivity receiver, as used for larger fixed wing models and multirotors.
I don't know about results with other chips, but the CYYFR6336, which supports DSM2 and DSMX, gives essentially "full range" results when tested with a "full range" receiver.
An exception is that the FrSky protocol was tested with a V8FR receiver, which is a "full range". So the relatively short range shown may reflect a low power implementation of the C2500 chip in the module.
Or it may be matter of the way the tests were done, which was concerned with whether the module gave enough range to fly the little helis, not necessarily whether they could support longer range flying. Not many people are willing to carry out a full range test -- 240m is plenty for these purposes. A full range test might require separation of 1-2km or more.
The bottom line is that the report should be taken with a grain or two of salt.

I did do a range test on my DIY multiprotocol module with a STM32 chip. The RF stage was the same sold with the AVR type module. I had signal using the frsky D protocol at 1.5Km distance. I wouldn't recommend flying that far though
