Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Couldn't make it happen this time...it knows I am watching it
Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
And now it happened 3 times in one flight bit I did not have it switched over to logging.
All 3 times the battery was at 14.6 and the alarm is still set at 12.9

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
OK - so yesterday I had the no telemetry and low battery several times yesterday across 3 models.
I was on what I call the custom screen 1 where I have FasV, Alt, RTC and Timer set to display.
I was looking straight at the screen when the FasV reading disappeared (not 0) and called out No telemetry & low battery.

This looks very similar to a problem I recently had Mike..

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
When the timeout (2.5 seconds) is exceeded with no new value arriving, then the displayed values flash off and on, so initially it would seem to disappear. It will then flash back on, and if a new value has then arrived, it will stay.
It is possible the update rate from your (non-FrSky?) telemetry is slower than expected.
Mike.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
I may well have reduced the timeout down from 4 seconds to 2.5 then. I'm adding an option so you may set the data timeout higher than 2.5 seconds if needed. Too long, and you won't know you really have lost telemetry soon enough!
It will be in the logging menu.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Mike, perhaps it makes more sense in the Telemetry menu? It has more to do with telemetry data than with the logging? That is telemetry data timeout, nothing to do with logging?
Thanks

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Maybe, but you can see the ticks in the logging menu if things are timing out, so you can adjust the value and test without leaving the menu. That was why I put it there.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
If the timeout is wrong then the alarms will go off anyway, the numbers will start blinking, the radio will report no telemetry. It doesn't matter if the ticks start blinking, you won't need to be in the logging screen
It just doesn't make sense at all if someone will look for that option, he/she won't find it because it is directly related to telemetry data.. It's common sense .

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Thanks!
I know I am just one person but I run with loss of throttle failsafe set to "continue with mission"
So even a 10 second loss of telemetry doesn't bother me.
9 out of 10 times it comes back into range.
The thing that freaked me out was hearing the "low battery" in a new area and reacting by hitting the RTL which after the fact was completely unnecessary since it was a false report.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
I've just posted "b9" with this change in. It is still in the logging menu. It was much quicker to put it there, and it now needs testing to see if the option fixes the problem.
The default timeout is 2.5 seconds, but you may adjust it up to 4.0 seconds (except for individual cells, Ctot and Cvlt which default to 4.0 seconds and will extend to 5.5).

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
so basically you have the 2.5 second timeout on RSSI / TSSI??
May I ask the reason you are extending the voltages timeout to 5.5 seconds? Just being curious
Thanks

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
The cell voltages tend to be sent at a slower rate to everything else, so I already had a 4 second timeout on them. If other things don't arrive inside 4.0 seconds, then the cell voltages may be more delayed so I opted to extend their timeout as well.

Please test the B6 again..
Another question, did you something else to your telemetry gear? like updating it, changing configuration, etc?
I guess you have a flight controller? Did you also update it?

Was that FasV?
I take it you changed the "Data Timeout" value to 4.0?

The only change was going to b7 and b8 (b8 current)
That is when it started
Yes, FasV and "no telemetry" warnings triggered.
Yes, time out value changed to 4.0

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Rolled back to B6 - no issues.
And, I was looking at the screen when Galt and Alt went to "0" intermittently on the ArduC Telemetry screen.
This was when the controller was calling out "Receiver signal critical".
So that should mean "no telemetry" and "Flight battery Low" should have been triggered as in B7, B8 and B9 ?

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
I've posted a 'c1'. This lets you set the telemetry timeout up to 10 seconds.
If the radio is reporting "receiver signal critical" it may still be receiving telemetry as the RSSI value is sent by the receiver.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
That is just it...the numbers for Alt & Galt only go to 0 during that time.
And it is not a solid 0
They will randomly go 0 - individually and together, mixed.
But it is only within that time the Tx is calling out "receiver signal critical".
Not normal operation or "receiver signal low".
I will test the C1 as soon as the wind calms down.
Currently at 15mph (16.7m/s)

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Finally got a chance to test.
No issues
Even when "receiver signal critical" was called out.
I will investigate further as I get time.
Thanks for the work!

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Another flight reveals (auto mission with radio failsafe set to continue mission) that when "no telemetry" is called out, "flight battery low" is also called out with C1
This is not the case with B6.
It just calls out "no telemetry".

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
That is quite likely! If the individual telemetry timeout expires, so a telemetry item is no longer valid, I think I now force the value to 0.
A bit of a toss up choice here. If a value becomes invalid, I need to choose between continuing to report the last value, so possibly not highlighting a problem, or force it to 0 so a possible problem is highlighted.
What setting do you have in the voice alert for "On No Telemetry", mute or play?
Mike.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
I never touched it.
It was on by default to the best of my knowledge.
It is the "flight battery low" that should not respond on loss of telemetry?
I mean it makes sense it would trigger because of the "0" but it is not necessarily true.

What are all the settings you currently have for the Fasv voice alert?
I can then look into possible ways of preventing an unwanted voice message.

Source FasV
Function v<val
Value (varies per model)
Switch nill
Trigger ON
Haptic nill
On Delay 0.0
Play source No
No no telem..... GREAT!
Sorry to bother...I had it on play BUT is that a default setting for the upgrade?
Because there was no problem before.

Re: Turnigy 9Xtreme, XJT, and Telemetry
Play has always been the default. The difference is in the detection of "No Telemetry". It used to be "is any telemetry being received", and used the last value received, even if it was minutes ago.
Now, each item is checked with its own timeout.
So, before, if you were receiving telemetry, and the last value was OK, nothing would play. Now, if you don't receive the specific value soon enough, then you have lost telemetry for that item.
Mike.
