Documentation for OpenTX 2.2 Taranis and Horus
Re: Draft Documentation for OpenTX 2.1
Many thanks for all your work. As a newcomer to Taranis and open TX the guide has been invaluable.
I've installed 2.1.8 and the LBT EU firmwares with no problems.
One slight problem is that my current sensor voice is reporting its units in miles per hour! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Charles.

You probably need to install the OpenTX 2.1 sound files if you upgraded from OpenTX 2.0.cgal1 wrote:Many thanks for all your work. As a newcomer to Taranis and open TX the guide has been invaluable.

Re: Draft Documentation for OpenTX 2.1
I've just found this Documentation Effort and am blown away by the detail and quality. I have not read it in detail so cannot provide constructive comments but "Great Work!"

Hi,
fantastic job!
Just read quickly throught the docs and found a small issue in section 1 page 19. Actually I discovered and used the MAX function in "inputs", and I also confirm that CH1-32 are available in the "mixes".
It's really a detail as compared to the sum of infos there, but if I can help...
Cheers,
B.

Re: Draft Documentation for OpenTX 2.1
Thank you for that. Docs changed. Page 19 is now page 26. I've added quite a bit to each one, and still adding.
Nearly ready to publish the "final" (haha!) document. Aiming for middle of next month so I can include all of the getting started bit.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
Just found these guides and they are awesome. I'm not sure if you mind anyone pointing out any issues, so please let me know. It looks like you spent a lot of time on this and it is very much appreciated.
I found a small error in "Reference Section 1, The Basics" page 14. The notes for Internalppm and ppmus are reversed.

Thank you.
Don't mind at all, indeed I do need people to find all the errors, there are bound to be plenty. It was impossible for me to try out every combination available myself.

I understand where you are coming from. Thanks for your efforts:)
Have you used this https://www.gitbook.com/@opentx
What I like about GitBook is the ability to comment and ask questions along side what I'm reading. As an author you may find it easer to keep up with questions and edits?
Hope my feedback helps.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
I did try Gitbooks at the request of the OpenTX guys, but I found it quite a restrictive medium to work in and gave up fairly quickly.
I don't think the final presentation would look anything like I have achieved. I spent quite a lot of time on this, these days it really is important.

This guide is very useful, very good job
a little contribution;
In txt file for notes you can see the up and down arrow adding "\dn" and "\up" after the switche name
SA\dn
SB\up
I think you could add this information in "How to Create txt files" section

This manual is very good, congratulations!!!
A little question,
I am a person who speaks Spanish.
You'd give me permission to make a translation of this manual into Spanish?
Obviously you are the author.
If I have your permission, I will slowly in my spare time.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
Thanks for all your high quality and fantastic work on this much needed documentation.
On your 'Corrections' of Sep 16, I think you meant 2.1.9 but inadvertently typed 2.2.9.
It is people like you who make OpenTX so much worthwhile and so so much better than closed systems.

Hi @thebriars0, I registered to this form to give you a BIG thanks for the wonderful documentation. Its being printed as we speak into a nice paper version. Call me old fashioned, but reading this from paper with my Taranis next to it is just a bit easier to do.
And I am wondering, why isnt it available everywhere, like on the opentx site. I found this page which was linked from a site I found using google, I think everyone should have this in their collection

It was linked from the opentx site under documentation but I've checked and the link is gone:( I added it at the end of September.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
Thanks idoNL, I prefer a printed copy too. Its much easier when you just want to look up one single thing, and it was laid out to look its best on paper, though the pdf version does come out well.idoNL wrote:Hi @thebriars0, I registered to this form to give you a BIG thanks for the wonderful documentation. I have tried to get it more widely known, the OpenTX guys said they would put it on their website but it hasn't happened yet.
Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
What would be your preferred method of posting it? link (to where?) or just upload the PDFs?

I had a link to his post with the PDFs. It got removed. It was under documents on the opentx site.Kilrah wrote:What would be your preferred method of posting it? link (to where?) or just upload the PDFs?

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
Thanks Kilrah and rcdiy. Basically I put the docs on here because the website structure is quite simple and with Rob putting it on as a sticky, it has been readily accessible within the site. Also it has proved straightforward to update the pdfs. However, I'm always open to suggestions.
When I've time I've a few more things to add to it, such as TTS automate (brilliant program!). Then I would like to adapt it to suit OpenTX 2.2 when it is fully released for the Horus. However, time is something I don't have spare at the moment.

Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
I was asked by a new 2.1 Taranis owner where he could find the A2 option on the telemetry page that was in 2.0?
Is that covered in the manual?
I'm still on 2.0 FW but have tried 2.1 in the past to know about the discovery mode. He has only x8r receivers so I wouldn't expect to see a A2 if it is a discovery mode option.
I'll be using 2.1 first of the year. I have no flying reason to use it but all the new plus owners are showing up with it pre installed.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
X8R receivers only have A1. This now returns as the battery voltage when discovered. Discovery finds all the sensors connected and gives them appropriate names.
As pointed out in the introduction, the documentation is deliberately NOT backward compatible.

Same as the X8R, and the other X and S series receivers.

The X6R has a traditional A2 port on the bottom: (https://alofthobbies.com/frsky-x6r-6-16 ... -sbus.html).

Notice: The X8R dose not have this External Analog Telemetry Port (AD1).With external analog telemetry port (AD1), When pins of A1 and X (Middle Pin) are connected by the jumper,
A1 will change from External Analog Telemetry Port to Internal Built-in battery voltage sensor.

Re: Documentation for OpenTX 2.1 and Taranis
I thought the x6r added the A2 port back. So does the 2.1 discovery mode add it as an option?
Thanks
