This requires the frsky telemetry mod on t9x before I can add this source ?
So the radio receive rssi from the receiver and send back into a cppm channel...sorry for my newbie questions :)

Yes, you need the telemetry mod for the radio to receive the RSSI value (and the rest of the telemetry).

Hi.
Which er9x version do i need to use for frsky telemetry and to find the rssi in the scaler sc1 as a source.

Im before the frsky telemetry mod with the radio...so now i use the standard er9x on my t9x radio.
I tried to check the setup with the scaler but i cannot find RSSI option at SC1 as source.
This option only available in the er9x- frsky version or ersky9x FW?

I thought it was always in the list. It is quite a long way through the list, after the CH1 to CH16 items you should see A1, A2 then RSSI.

Mike.
I 've cheked it. (I use yet standard Er9x not frsky version)..Unfortunatelly I got blank area where the text should be place...i only hear beeps as I change source after CH16, I think there is 4 blank option (as source) between CH16 and RUD what I cannot see as they are blank when the list start again.
Maybe I have issue with ER9x FW or with the radio...or the protocol type for the given model...I think I tried it under a model with PXX protocol.
Oh..and I check the above setup when XJT was removed from the radio.
Plese help where to find the this RSSI why some of the sources not appear in the list just blank?

one more question.
Is possible to modify the XJT modul to get TTL signal(like others do in case inside the DJT using Sipek chip)...and skip the rs232 to TTL converter from the radio.
I ask this because i would like to use the orange lrs telemetry which also possible with frsky mod, but without rs232 as orange send TTL signal directly.
Whats your recommendation? Made the frsky mod with rs232 to ttl for XJT , and modify the orange lrs module to provide rs232 signal.
In this case can I use another rs232 to TTL inverter inside the orange Tx module to invert TTL to Rs232? As i will make a mode for XJT inside the radio where the other inverter wating rs232 signal.

Can i use 2 piece of this rs232 to TTL converter http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/ebayimage2012/25291-3.jpg

or only one rs232 for frsky mode and use this DIY circuit for orange TX module

The XJT actually sends a TTL level, serial signal (Smart Port), but it is inverted. You only need a RS232 buffer for the DJT, but you do need an inverter for the XJT. There are some simple inverters just using a couple of resistors and a transistor you could use, as shown in use in the DIY circuit for the Orange LRS module.

Thnak you..
What do you think, why I cannot see RSSI and A1 and A2 after ch16?
er9x not enough need the frsky version, or I need to put the XJT module into the radio?
As i said im before the frsky mod...i want just test now the setup, I hope after the mod and change to frsky version of er9x i will see rssi as a source in SC1

you need the er9x_frsky version to be able to have telemetry on your radio. And for that you need to do the telemetry mod.

Hi, I have an 9xr which i modded to display telemetry from a djt module and a d8r-xp receiver and is working fine.
Now i bought a XJT module and i want to make it work with the same d8r-xp. I Have binded them together and I have no telemetry. Do I need to mod my XJT module the same way i modded my DJT?

Thanks in advance. cheers

How did you do the mod to get the DJT telemetry working?
If you used an inverter, and modified the DJT to output the telemetry on the bottom pin of the module connector, then the XJT should work.
What firmware are you using on the 9XR?

I didn't use an inverter. In the djt i soldered a wire from pin 14 of the sipex 3232 as per the tutorials around. I have firmware 2.1.9 installed on the 9xr

But what firmware? OpenTX?
If so, I'm not sure it supports the XJT on your radio anyway. Let's wait for an Opentx developer to reply.
Er9x does support the XJT module on AVR based radios.

The XJT telemetry signal is inverted serial, so you will need an inverter on your radio if the telemetry is going to work at all.

I have just checked companion 2.1.9 and there I can't find any setting for the XJT on the 9XR radio.
But if i simulate the radio itself, I can see a PXX setting in the "Protocol" field.
In other words, not possible to have a definite answer by just looking at companion :(

Go to the model setup menus on your radio and see if you can see an option called "PXX" under "Proto"

I have OpenTX and I have the PPM 8 option setup. I have it working on PPM with the old DJT module and it also works with the new XJT, I mean, I can control the model, the thing is I don't have telemetry with the XJT.
This is the model setup Page:

Is it mandatory to use an inverter or I can modify the XJT the same way I did with the DJT?
This I what i did on the DJT:

The XJT is different, you can't do to it what you did to the DJT. You will need to use a level converter.
Do you have a "PXX" option in "Proto"??
I don't use openTX, so I don't know..

No PXX option, just PPM / PPM16 / PPMsim.

Then you won't have any advantage changing to the XJT on that radio as openTX doesn't support it.
Er9x does support it though. But you would have to connect a level converter between the module and the radio's processor.

The XJT already drives a (inverted) serial signal out on the bottom pin of the module connector. You just need an inverted inside the radio to handle that. Note that this serial runs at 57600 baud (not 9600 baud of the DJT).
If openTx for the 9XR doesn't support the PXX protocol for the XJT, it is unlikely it handles the 57600 baud of the telemetry either.

Hi.
I have a problem and need help.
I have a Turnigy 9XR radio after modifying telemetry.
Set -> 9XR + DJT + D8R-II Plus - works perfectly.
Because I need more channels I bought XJT + X8R
Unfortunately, I can not run RSSI and SWR telemetry on 9XR + XJT
My software is er9xProv822f - XJT protocol (PXX)

Can someone write me what I should do step by step ?

Thank you very much.

Did your modification for telemetry include an inverter? The XJT outputs inverted serial, so needs this inverter.

I do not have a 9XR-Pro and do not know what FrSky telemetry mod you would need to do
with DJT module with D8R-II Plus receiver in the 9XR-Pro Radio.
I believe there is no FrSky telemetry mod needed to use the FrSky XJT module with
the X8R receiver (Select Protocol "XJT" which is PXX protocol).
If you need more than 8 channels, there are several ways to do this.
There is using the SBUS Port (CH1-CH16) or use two X8R receivers.
View the FrSky manuals here for more info: (https://www.frsky-rc.com/).
Mike and João understand the 9XR-Pro radio better than I do.

I can buy.
This one will be good ? -> https://abc-rc.pl/konwerter-rs232-ttl-max3232

Bob, he doesn't have a 9XR-PRO, he has an older 9XR radio which is basically the same as the normal 9x radio, but probably with an m128 as processor.

Thanks João, I missed that when I saw the Pro in the firmware version er9xProv822f.
I should have noitic the er9x in front of it.
Many people leave off the Pro when referring to the 9XR-Pro radios.

Umm no. When you see people talking about a 9XR it's pretty much always becasue they are talking about a 9XR, don't recall many occurrences of people just omitting the "Pro" when that's what they have.

You've been wrong several times becasue of assuming that however ;)

Sorry, but I’ve seen numerous examples of posts about the “9XR” which in fact related to the 9XR Pro. It’s a fairly common mistake.
