Turnigy 9XR General

Post by Flaps 30 »

I noticed that Hobbyking has mentioned that the 9X will be replaced later this year by the 9XR.. Any clues as to what the differences might be? Of course I expect a higher price to be set on these, as the 9X is far too cheap. :)

Got a link to this info? Only thing I can find is a vague reference to 9xr on a discussion about the radjet. Nothing about it being a radio coming this year.

Turnigy 9XR

Post by cre8tiveleo »

Since the 9x is Turnigy branded, they can switch to a supplier that can meet their projected demands. Since walkera has released some sweet touch screen colour (color for our american friends) this may be on the horizon, but who knows.
Flysky may not be the supplier, they could manufacture it themselves, or get it from another supplier.

flysky is the supplier and manufacturer of the 9x without any doubt,
if flysky is not going tu release a new version, that means to me 9XR will be another radio then, will not be an improvement of it as it looks like when reading the name.

Big question here...

Does this mean that all the flysky radios will change to this version? Will it be the same chassis etc..

Who knows!

Or one a special RF module switched from the firmware menu between many systems as FRSkY, FASST, DSMX etc.

Color touch screen, voice output, built-in support for SD cards with a firmware upgrade from SD or even telemetry data logging on SD etc., Hall sensors instead of all mechanical potentiometers.

And all of that's a price of around $ 100.

This is a wery big dreams.

Other than the color touch screen..... ersky9x. It's not a dream... and it's only $85. ;)
I think even more than your list is possible.... you didn't mention blue tooth logging to a PC or Cell Phone, or 3 PPM outputs so you could drive frsky, dsm and whatever else all at the same time.
The software guys have an open play ground.

It will use the atmega chip and can be flashed with your existing customised software. In fact, it comes standard with a similar rom to one you have mentioned.

We wont be sending out eval units because we have done alot of testing in house already and its unfair to make customers wait for further evaluations.

at least we know that its compatible with er9x "can be flashed with your existing customised software".
Time will tell if its more powerfull than ersky9x. but my bets are all to ers9x??
Besides to a color touchscreen what else can u ask for ersky.

By theway guys a Good color screen cuz the old touchscreen technology of late 90tys (the cheap touchscrns of today) was BADDDD. so bad sometimes that its better to just continue using the "old way"

it comes standard with a similar rom to one you have mentioned. <----------- similar? or they get er9x and modify it a bit? thats weird..

if the rom is so similar then probably its not a touch screen
lets see if they post just a single image to see it at least...

Maybe they just did put a more powerfull atmega on the board and kept the rest the same.. I mean the connections to the processor must be the same to be able to be fully compatible.. Also, perhaps it comes already with the LED backlight installed, the telemetry mod done and a built in programmer inside. Now, this sounds a bit more realistic. ;) ;)

And it would be very nice.. Who knows maybe they're following these threads.. Keep dreaming :D

It seems too good to be true. It is what we were saying they should have done all along. Build a quality hardware base that is open for the open source guys to develop software for.

The 9XR has a pin-out in the battery compartment for easier custom firmware flashing without needing to open the case.

It will use the atmega chip and can be flashed with your existing customised software. In fact, it comes standard with a similar rom to ER9x.
