Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Hello
Just a stab in the dark here..
Does anyone know of a super small 2.4g transmitter module. Something ideally off the shelf that will receive a ppm signal, and send it to a suitable receiver - that has ppm output.
When I say small... I am thinking around 1.5cm x 1.5cm
It does not need range - just a solid link over around 5 to 10 meters.

Is that not the receiver only.jhsa wrote:Check thisw one.. output is Sbus though. Don't know about PPM.

It's specifically the transmitter side I am after.

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Might be you find something similar like this.
This is, I'm pretty sure, not a PPM controlled transmitter because it has 7 connected tracks.

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Nope it's just an RF module that's driven by a processor on the main board.
Your best bet is a custom smaller build of one of the multimodule combinations...

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Thinking maybe to drop the 2.4g idea and use this:
http://www.hobbiesfly.com/brotronics-submicrolrs.html
Being openlrs, in theory the rx can be reflashed at a tx!

But that is still only a receiver you wanted a TX??

Re: RE: Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Believe most openlrs systems are dual function. You configure it either as a tx or rx.jhsa wrote:But that is still only a receiver you wanted a TX??
João
So technically... I could make it a tx.

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
If you are interested.
You can buy and AC410(small) and I can make the code for re-purpose as tx module TX (with ppm decoder)and you can re-flash it with new firmware.it is not complicated to change the code from RX to TX.I have both.If you remove the pinheader is even smaller.

That would be very interesting indeed.
Is there a way to have it always run in low power mode?
Just thinking that the system would be broadcasting right next to my head!

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
Yes it can be run at any power mode available.
One line of code to change.I can adjust output power at will. How ever at max the output power is not much (max 1dBm)because it doesn't have PA.
If I remember correctly I think I made already the code for somebody he want to use with head tracker.I have to look for it.

Thank you.
Do you have a repo for the code? Flashing instructions etc?

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
The code for TX is here.It is using the same pinout except the PPM pin.The source code is attached.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... ostcount=1
It needs to change the PPM pin to one of the AC410 channels.
And AC410 RX pinout you find here.it is the same as f801/F802 RX
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... ostcount=2
I can do it for you and compile the modified code. if you want no big deal.
Flashing you can use USBASP 3.3V and a flashing tool from HK.Atmega328 mcu.Don't use USBASP 5V you may burn the rf module or the Atmega 328.

I modified the code and compiled ....but it is not tested because i'm not at home.See attached.Test and let me know.
if you press bind button at start tx module enters in bind mode for 9sec. and LED is flashing rapidly.
PPM input is moved on channel1(AC410) so connect tx PPM signal to ch1.

What are you using to flash the chip? What sofrware/settings?

Re: Micro short range 2.4g tx with ppm input
The chip is Atmega328P.
Usually I used an avrdude gui like avr8 Burn-o-mat.But there are many other softwares like avrdudess or direct command line for avrdude.
Before you flash the firmware read fuses to be sure you have right connections.Don't flash it is you have fuse error.
Use only 3.3v USB programmer.
Not all 3.3V USB programmers on the market are real 3.3V.Some of them are labeled 3.3V but the mcu is supplied with 5V.This can lead to damaging the RF module via its HW spi pins .
The recommended USBASP are with the black pcb.
