OK, try the one I've just posted. It seems you are getting a watchdog timeout when reading the directory on your SD card. I've extended the timeout, and re-triggered it while reading it.

Hi,

That gets me past that stage.

Now stuck on screen that says:

UPDATE Int. XJT

Flashing
Finding Device
______________
[_____________]

So it appears not only can Sport.exe not find device, neither can the Taranis itself !

When finding the device, the Tx sends requests 10 times per second, and because the Tx can control the power to the XJT, the XJT should see these at the correct time. In your case, no valid response is coming back.
I conclude one of the following is happening:
1. The XJT is not getting power.
2. The SPort connection to the internal has failed.
3. The XJT itself has failed.

I can't currently find a source in the UK for a replacement backboard with XJT on it. You might try contacting T9 directly and see what they can do.

I spoke to T9, he just hadn't got round to listing them on the site. 33.50 + 6.00 postage. Now ordered.
Wonder what firmware it will come with and if I will have to flash it to get D mode :)

Many thanks for all your help.

Ok, an update.

Fitted the new module. (quick moan, why couldn't frsky have used the same arial connector they use in the RX instead of having to solder co-ax)
Can now bind to a recently purchased X6R and a D4-II R.

But, and why does there always have to be a but, my TX has stopped talking to me. Speaker still makes the correct beeps, but all the voice warnings have gone.

Any clues ?

Robert.

You did move the SD card from the old back board to the new one, right?

Further update.

I have 4 RX on the bench. D4R-II, X4R, X6R and X8R. All bought at different times, not sure of the age of them.

I can bind to the D4R-II and X6R only.

I reflashed the internal XTJ with XJT_LBT_build151223.

The D4R-II still works but I can't bind to any of the X series RX.

Do I need to upgrade the firmware in the RX's ?

Appreciate all the help, think I am only a couple of steps away from where I want to be.

My understanding is if you flash the XJT with the LBT firmware, then you MUST also flash the 'X' receivers with the compatible receiver LBT firmware.

Done that, with the new Open TX was really simple. Everything works.

Just wish I knew why upgrading the internal module failed and sent me down this path.

Thanks again to everyone for your help.

But I can understand why some people might want a system you just turn on and use.

Just want to ask what is the easiest way currently for me to upgrade the XJT module and several receiver type D series and X8r?

Taranis is from the first generation, and with Open TX 2.05 on it at present.

I don't mind starting over with telemetry settings etc as it's been so long since I last used the Tx that I can't remeber how it's all set up :)

Would like to preserve my model settings if possible.

First use Companion and backup your EEPROM and flash. This will enable you to restore these so you keep your settings.
You then need to flash firmware to the radio that includes the ability to update your XJT and X8R. Note the 'D' receivers don't need any updating.
You need either openTx 2.1 or the openTx 2.0.19 I built with "maintenance mode", which you can find here: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6847#p94700.
I think the 2.0.19 will keep your EEPROM settings unchanged.

Many thanks Mike, as always a quick and informative answer, wIll just have to decide now between 2.1 or 2.0.19. Must go read the main difference between the two ;)

I assume the only file I need from FRSKY is the latest version of the X8R here....

Sorry to ask but want to be completely sure of everything before I do damage ;)
