Taranis Plus S2 pot problem

Post by Pori »

Hi guys!

I have the latest revision Taranis Plus with the latest software from FrSky. When I try to set my S2 pot as an input source by turning it while the source option is highlighted, the transmitter sometimes detects it as S3. This mostly happens close to the center point of S2. In my settings S2 is set as pot with detent and S3 as none. Also calibrated the pot multiple times. Here is a video someone posted on youtube about this behaviour: http://youtu.be/NeWSy73GsEs
Anyone has any idea why this could be happening? Otherwise the po lt works fine when I select it as source manually. S3 is not installed in my radio.

Thanks for any info!

Hy,

Forget it,
well known reaction with open S3-Pin at the Taranis Plus
causes no error at openTx, because S3 is not set.

Is there no workaround for this problem?

I don't see anything either in the open nor closed issues on github, so it seems nobody actually reported that as a problem.

I have reported it just now. Hope some decent explanation will turn up. :)

I don't see a new issue?

https://github.com/opentx/opentx/issues ... dated-desc+

Anyway the reason is simple, if the S3 input is not connected it will follow S2 a bit, and then as it's moving it's detected as such. It should be ignored in the detection if set to OFF in the hardware settings.

Kilrah, I see that the S2 issue was submitted back in the June 2015 time frame as a problem do you have any further information?

I just upgraded to 2.1.9 and I am seeing a similar situation but S3 is installed and defined! At first S2 would not even work so I undefined (hardware screen), powered off the radio, pwrd. on and defined S2 as a pot with detent. S3 (multi-pos sw) works as it should i.e. 6 specific outputs i.e. full CCW to CW 99, 59, 19, -20, -60, -100 but S2 only works from the detent pos. clock wise i.e. -100 to 0 (-100 = center pos and 0 = full CW pos.). When I rotate S2 CCW from the detent pos. the reading remains at -100. Can I somehow re-define the range of S2 from -100 to 0 to +100 to 0 to -100 like it should be?

PS I know S2 and S3 are good working pots (recently replaced because of this issue), good solder joints i.e. no issues with the soldering and connection of the two pots.

Simply recalibrate analogs following the steps.

Kilrah, I did conduct a recal. of the entire radio thinking this might resolve the issue but it did not. Is this considered a non-issue with OTX?

Never heard of it, so it doesn't seem like an OpenTX issue indeed.

Double-check you're centering any pots that are defined with/have a detent at the step that asks for centering. Your issue sounds like what you get if you don't.

Kilrah, tried recal (making sure all pots are centered) same result. Any further suggestions / ideas?

Nope apart from measuring the voltage on the pot wiper as you move it and check it actually varies like it should and the continuity of that all the way to the processor.

Does openTx not still have the "ANAS" screen where the raw analog input may be checked to see it is working correctly?
