Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Hi here,
Guys, i go crazy for 3 days... I've replace stock gimbals on my Taranis X9D with M9 ones (contained hall sensor). After calibrating i notice a strange behavior of aileron trim - at Tx power-on it goes in full right pos. Manually i can move it in neutral pos or full left, but it moves only leftside and after re-powering all repeats again - trim goes full right.
What was i've try to do:
-exchange gimbals by their positions
-reinstall old stock gimbal
-exchange aileron trim PCB with throttle trim PCB
-flashed last firmware (on video SD not syncronized yet)
NOTHING CHANGES, TRIM GOES RIGHT!!!
The question is: might i in some mode damage motherboard? Does exist some solution of a problem?
Thanks.
PS I've try also other trim PCBs, try solder wires to PCB, all tests was maiden in open Tx to avoid any part mechanical contact - nothing changes...

Re: Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Update. After a few days of painful search for the cause of the malfunction and advice to throw out the radio and buy a new one, everything suddenly turned up by itself, without any action from my part. This is not encouraging, 'cause can repeat at any time, but the problem has disappeared by itself. Thanks to everyone who helped with the advice.

Lone time ago, that happen to me too.
Can not remember what the cause was, (I use erSky9x firmware now).
Maybe thinking about it, ..... it may come back to me.

It may have been a sticky trim button, if I remember correctly.
So maybe a hardware problem.

Re: Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Did anyone remember the reason or figure out a solution to this? My very lightly used and lightly handled (but a few years old) X9D just started doing this. I've saved my trims, but I have to pull it all the way back to center before every flight (after every power on).
I just switched to another model and now its just stuck pushing right and won't even let me use it at all... help!

I suggest the problem is a hardware problem, that maybe with a sticky switch trim button,
which may fix itself by moving the trim switch back and forth several times.
But this is only a guess, as not having your radio in hand.
Let us know what you find.

Re: Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Whats odd is that it forces itself to the right 100% (I've got an sdcard in with voice) and it announces maximum reached. Then I can bring it back to the left as far as I want, but no longer can move to the right. So I get one direction of movement once its done doing its thing. So weird how it just started happening.
No feeling of sticky, the unit is so barely used its practically new honestly.

Trim switch still maybe faulty. (https://alofthobbies.com/frsky-taranis- ... witch.html)
Try swapping the two horizontals trim switch boards to see if
the problem follows the same horizontal trim switch board.

Re: Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Have you checked in the switch diag menu to see the trim switches are working OK?

It's back to normal again, out of no where...
They are all behaving normally, registering movement and I'm also storing their settings per model to keep things simple.

You may want to order a replacement Trim Switch Board,
so if the problem returns, you may want to try a new Trim Switch Board.
Also follow Mike's request first (if/when problem returns), as he is best to help you with solving this problem.

Re: Taranis X9D aileron trim strange behavior
Just registered an account to leave this comment here. I have an early model A version of the Taranis, and sure enough just as I was programming models, this exact same thing started happening to me.
I found a post on RCG where the flyer Fiftyslicks narrowed it down to a dead clock battery. I pulled my case open, popped out the C1220 3v lithium coin cell and soldered in a spare 3v (non c1220, I used a cr1632 because it was all I had laying around). Powered on - voila - no more problem with the stuck trim.
