Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Hi,
Can anyone confirm or contradict the fact that using flight mode 0 trims in other flight modes (1 to 8) are not preserved?
Flight mode 0 trims are not preserved but all other flight modes (1 to 8) trims when used in other flight modes (1 to 8), they are preserved.
Thanks

What do you mean by "preserved"? In the currently selected flight mode, or does it affect mode 0 too?

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Hi Kilrah,
You're right I should have used the term applied instead of preserved.
So: when I want flight mode 0 trims applied in flight modes 1 or 2 or 3.... up to 8, it does not work.
Flight modes 1 to 8 do not apply the trims of flight mode 0, otherwise it works.

Hi Kilrah,
Can you confirm about trims in Flight mode 0 are not applied in other flight modes (1 to 8)? For V2.1.9
Thanks

That would mean that the default doesn't work - but it certainly does.
You might want to post your settings.

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Hi Kilrah,
The trims (RETA) adjusted in the default flight mode 0 works fine when flight mode 0 is selected.
However, if you select flight mode 1 and you have programmed trims from flight mode 0 trims in the flight mode 1 it does not work for sure.
The way I solved my problem is not use flight mode 0 at all.
what would you need specifically for me to post to show the problem?

Ideally post your eepe file with all your configuration, or at least a screenshot of the flight modes page.
Also, what exactly "doesn't work"? What do you have instead of FM0's trims? How do you detemine it "doesn't work"?

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Hi Kilrah,
When I set (adjust while flying) my trims when flight mode 1 is selected and want to apply them (keep them) in flight mode 2 and 3, it works.
It works for me means I can keep the same trims in flight modes 1,2 and 3 that were set in flight mode 1.
If I choose flight mode 0 as my official trims they won't be applied in any other flight modes.
I will send my eepe file in my next post.

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Kilrah,
Attached is one of my eepe files.
Please look at the Model # 1 the FourStar40 for the trim problem in flight mode 0.
Look at the Extra-300 for how I solved my trim problem (not using flight mode 0).
thanks

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Kilrah,
A quick way to see the trim problems as you requested:
Use companion, load my eepe file and click on the SA- switch in the simulator to change from flight mode 0 to flight mode 1.
When switching flight modes, you will see in the simulator some joystick movements; the trims move and they are not supposed to. The changes are very small but nevertheless easily visible.

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
You implemented your rates in the mixer instead of doing it in Inputs, which means when you select your 70% rates the trim is also multiplied by 0.7. Nothing to do with the flight mode trim feature.

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Hi Kilrah,
OK thanks, that explains it. I will change it for all models.
So what you are stating is that it is not recommended to place the rates in the mixer.
Thanks for your patience

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
The rates and expo are normally applied to the Inputs (sticks) themselves, even before they are assigned to channels in the mixer.

Re: Flight mode 0 trims in openTx 2.1.9
Thanks Jhsa,
It would be good to have a signal flowchart of OpenTx, with flight modes, inputs, trims, mixer, outputs etc etc.
I have seen one once in one of the manuals but I can't find this manual anymore.
At that time I did not realize that was precious info.

Check this one, it is for Er9x and Ersky9x, not openTX, but the basics are the same. Download the manual. You will find a diagram showing how the signal is processed from the sticks to the output.
