Display slowly fades out within 5 minutes

Post by FlyingDreams »

I just got a Taranis Plus a few days ago. The first thing that I did was to flash with 2.0.12. I played around with the default model for a few minutes, and then I set the TX down for a few minutes. When I went back to it, the contrast on the display was very low. I tried to adjust the contrast, but nothing helped. I turned off the radio, waited a few seconds and turn the radio back on. I got the voice greeting, and the backlight was on, but the screen was blank. I found that I had to turn off the radio and wait at least 2 minutes before turning the radio back on in order to get a proper display.

Then I noticed that the the display contrast would start getting lower after about 2 minutes when the backlight was turned on. Without the backlight on, the display contrast starts to dim after about 3 to 4 mintues. By about 6 minutes, the display could not be read.

I'm assuming this is a hardware problem (maybe a bad component that is heat sensitive), but before I try getting a hold of the dealer for warranty work (or replacement - althrough everyone seems to be out of stock now), I just wanted to make sure that there isn't some known software issue that is causing this. Since the first thing I did was flash the radio, I'm not sure what version of the software was on there initially. I also don't know if this display problem would have also happened before I flashed. I searched on this forum and did a google search, but I either got no hits or got a ton of irrelevant hits.

So, opinions? Hardware problem?

Thanks,

John

Nope. Battery voltage is at 8 volts. I charged it all night.

I am having the same problem with my Taranis X9D Plus. Since upgrading the firmware.

Were you able to find a solution for this?

There have been no software changes to LCD driver between those versions. I looks more like a hardware issue.

I bought the radio Taranis X9D Plus (combo with X8R receiver) a month ago.
I have not used much until now, I still have to use outdoors.

From a short time (1 week) I have the same problem with the radio's LCD contrast.
The contrast is attenuated more and more until you can not read any characters (white screen).
This attenuation lasts for about ten minutes, even less.
The backlight is instead functioning properly.
If I turn off and turn on the radio, the display remains blank.
If I remove the battery and put it back the problem remains.
I have to hold off the radio for a few minutes (about 5 min) before the display returns to work.
The problem then comes back again.

I installed the latest software version 2.0.15.
I fully charged the battery and it is new.
I tried to change the contrast settings (max and min) and the backlight and color but the problem remains.

can anyone help us?
