I want to be able to figure out where my glider has been during the whole of the flight. (We have a neighbour to our flying site with a tendency to complain, and I need to be able to prove my model wasn't responsible)
I presently have the D8R-II plus receiver, the Frsky hub, and the Frsky GPS connected through the hub. Tx is the Taranis.
I believe it is possible to record GPS data during flight to the internal SD card, and then display it on a PC.
This is the point I get stuck. Do I need any other hardware? How do I set up the Taranis to record the data?
How can I then get the data into Google Earth or similar, so I can see the path the plane followed in flight?
All help gratefully received.
Robert

Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
You can record simply by using the Custom Function "SD Logs" with the logging interval as setting.
I don't think anybody has done a conversion program to display the plot in Google Earth yet though.

Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
So once I have the data, what can I actually do with it ?

Er9x on 9x radio, with Smartieparts Programmer and TelemetrEZ Board.
ErSky9x on Taranis, Sky9x, 9Xtreme radios.

Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
With the coordinates not much apart coying and pasting them for example to get a downed location.
All the other values can be plotted and used, but nobody made an interface with maps for the position points.
It's not a tremendous work, but somebody would have to do it of course.

Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
There seem to be lots of third party GPS loggers on the market, which export a file google earth can read.....perhaps I would be better of with something like that. Had really hoped the Taranis could do everything
Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
The data is there, so it can providing someone does the work

Re: Question re logging GPS data from flight
Hello,
the same here.
I succesfully log the GPS coordinates but it's a kind of hybryd. I try to convert it in GPX format but I don't have all data to match nmea standard $GPGGA (global position with altitude).
I think that the only conversion is in $GPRMC without altitude (anyway altitude is sended but I think I can't use it in GPRMC).
I understand that because of the space the string is cutted but I think that the whole string should be sent without cut and in the correct order on csv file; in that way parsing and conversion in GPX for a 3d system should be easy.
bye

Found this:
https://github.com/fluiddruid/TelemProc?source=cc
Maybe a good start that could be expanded to convert GPS info.
