I believe currently, the "V" series will not work with the internal XJT module, but would work with an external module.

I just added a little description.
The V series -II are OK, as they can be bound to a D mode transmitter. Only the original V series won't work.

To add some confusion... the v5dm is a d series Protocol, but not a version 2 tx!

And, of course, this is just with the onboard (built in) TX board, no module in the bay, right?

When you add a module in the bay, changes the compatability list to what is also compatible with that TX module (Futaba, other FRSky, FlySky, etc.).

Cheers,

Wreno

No, the D8R-XP is as the name says a "D" series, For that you will need, as Kilrah said above, the new "X" series receivers..

I wonder if frsky is going to release firmware updates for the existing "D" series modules and receivers that will allow them to become "X" series.. I think that was planned before? is it still planned?
That would be wonderful for people that already own the "D" system. It would be bad if we had to bin all the frsky system to buy a new frsky system, having to buy all the receivers again.. :o

The D series work. It is just the failsafe that cannot be set from the Tx.

The D series work perfectly, they just don't have the new features.

but I remember that it was said that there would be an update for the D series allowing them to have some of the features of the "X" series..
So, if I understand they declined that idea right? No point on having PXX on the 9x if that is the case then?

I think it goes the other way:
- It was initially planned to keep the existing D hardware, add PXX to the firmware, and only add model match and remote failsafe setting as new features, i.e. little improvement.
- In then end they chose to go much further, and thus create new hardware altogether instead.

No idea if an upgrade of D gear is still planned.

I think they always wanted to do the new hardware but also upgrade the existing system.. at least that was what I read sometime ago..
if they don't release an upgrade, it will really be a shame.. :(

Any idea why I can't bind to my D6FRs?? I have no trouble with my 8 channel Rxs. I put the Taranis into bind mode and I just can't get the receiver led to flash. No jumper is called for and I AM holding down the F/S button on power up. I'm following the directions, but no luck.

Anybody??

I bound two D6FRs last week. I don't remember the details now, but I don't recall having any problems. Are they new? Mine were in use with a 9x before.

Hi,
Something to add to this is that only the new X series receivers support the new model match function.
Thanks Martin.

I have a Taranis and I can't get my V8FRVII to bind I have chosen the D8 in the model as there appears to be no V8 hold the button down on the receiver power up and voila "no green light" :(
Bad news, good news swapping the fr Sky module to the Taranis is a snap and no rebinding is necessary. I would still, however; like to try to bind one of these to the internal radio for comparison, if nothing else. So do I need to jumper some pins while I hold down the button? I will dig for more documentation, but; if anyone knows off the top please let me know.

Read the manual for the v8 receiver. :ugeek:

Normally to bind in dual mode. You need to put a jumper on one of the pins.

Thanks, always remember to RTFM (read the fine manual), jumping signal on 1 and 2 is the right stuff for me, on to syncing models and field testing.

This has probably been asked elsewhere but can you power the 8XR from the Smart Port or RSSi connection ?

RSSI or Sbus is OK, but not the smart port (the trace going through the receiver would be too weak to safely power servos).
