I have recently moved from Spektrum to FrSky/OpenTx. One of my planes to convert have 9 servos, which posed no problems before since there are several DSMX rx with 9ch or more. However, there is only one FrSky rx with more than 8 ch (L9R), as far as i know.
I have an X8R rx and wonder if I can use pwm for 8 of the servos and control the 9th servo using SBUS (if I get one SBUS servo)? In other words, can you have 8 channels on pwm and additional channels on SBUS at the same time on the X8R?
I know I can use two rx but I'd rather not if it can be avoided.

Yes, both the PWM and SBUS outputs operate at the same time.
You may also obtain SBUS to PWM decoders. Should you be be in to using Arduinos, I've written a sketch for a Pro Mini that provides 16 PWM outputs from a SBUS input, see: https://github.com/MikeBland/SbusToPpm.
