auto offset

Post by Raythegreat »

Hi

I have Open Tx 2.1.9 and Taranis with the FrSky GPS V2. All works well except the auto offset feature.
At power on and when the GPS has locked on satellites, the altitude indicates 18 meters over see level which is about correct according to Google earth.
However, I have clicked on the auto offset feature and I has hoping to get 0 meters at start up but that does not work.
When the plane is powered on and on the ground I still get 18 meters I the telemetry and logs.

Please advise.

Thanks

Thanks JoBlack.

Does it mean we need to do a reset telemetry each time we want to log a new flight to have it right?
what does the telemetry reset do?

Thanks

Auto offset = first received value is used as offset.

With GPS the value isn't valid until long after you powered stuff up, so the first value will have been random. Reset once the value is valid will again take the next value as offset but it will now be correct.

You can also reset only that sensor with an SF.

I find the GPS takes ages to find all the satellites, this is a real problem for me as I fly electric and use an arming plug to arm the plane on the flight line. To overcome this I use a tiny lipo which will power the GPS for many hours and is connected up long before the flight.

Using a technique like this would also overcome the problem of having to reset.
