Wrong .bin Burnt to Taranis = screwed up Tx

Post by mapes12 »

I've got a new Taranis Plus and flashed ERSky9X without a problem. Everything was working fine. So I got my old Taranis (not Plus) and read my models from it to a .bin file using eePeSky. But this is where I made my mistake. I then burnt the .bin from the old Taranis to the new one completely forgetting that the "General" settings from the old Taranis would overwrite the new Taranis radio settings. Now the new Taranis is screwed up with weird lines on the screen and I can't get it to talk to eePeSKY. Any suggestings for getting it working again please?

Mark

Does the new Taranis Plus not start in bootloader mode any more?

Yes, it starts in bootloader mode. I've created a new EEPROM .bin file in eePeSKY and tried to burn it to the new Taranis in the hope that it would fix things but I get an operation failed message.

What bootloader is running (version?).
When you connect the USB, with the bootloader running, Do you get two drives appearing, one of size 512K and the other of size 32K?

Have you got "X9DP (Taranis Plus)" set in the preferences for the "Version to Download"?
Eepskye uses this setting when creating an EEPROM and when writing it to determin the size of file to write.

That's solved it. I had the wrong version in preferences. ERSky9X is back up and running. Thanks. The only thing I've noticed though is that there is some jitter on the knobs and slider bars. When it was running the stock version of OpenTX this wasn't evident in the channel monitor screen. And my old Taranis doesn't appear to do it. I've uploaded a vid to Youtube of the screens on my old Taranis compared to the new one: https://youtu.be/BXN8EiU2hkQ

Check the "Filter ADC" setting in the hardware menu. Set it to OSMP (Over SaMPle) if it is set to Single.
Also in the hardware menu, you may set a deadband for the stick centres. This can improve the centering, without affecting normal operation.
Note that the hardware menu is protected to avoid accidental changes. Hold the left horizontal trim to the left at power on to enable it.

Mike, OSMP seems to be the fix for many (really many) of us using all different hardware.. Wouldn't make sense making it the default option?

Thanks

It is for SKY/AR9X/PRO, I've just put it in for Taranis and I have it in for Horus.

Changing the Filter ADC setting to OSMP calmed the jittering down but SL still jitters but only in its mid position. There doesn't appear to be any slop when it centres. In the Radio Setup > DiagAna screen I can see SL as A7 and where its fast jittering between 0.0 and -0.3. SR is A5 and locked solid on 0.00 in mid position. I'm hoping this tiny amount of drift on SL will not affect its operation when assigned to a model channel?

I think you won't notice that unless you have some super sensitive servos. I mean abnormally super extra sensitive servos :D
