New Taranis X9D Plus SPECIAL EDITION with M9 Hall sensor from Horusrc
New Taranis X9D Plus SPECIAL EDITION with M9 Hall sensor from Horusrc
Hi there,
I'm an absolute newby when it comes to RC and I'm currently building my almost ready to flight DJI F450.
I was looking forward on what kind of transmitter and receiver to get, and as it stands (after a few days googling) the Taranis x9d Plus seems to be a good approach (along with the FrSky x8r receiver).
Then I found this combo from horusrc (Taranis X9D combo). This ones come already with te M9 hall sensor Gimbals, which offer, apparently, better control /customization... and so on and so on...
I'm inclined to get it, even though it is actually my first "real" (apart from the ones that come already with "toys") transmitter, given that the price, compared with bang good, for instance, for the same items, it's very competitive.
Am I "overshooting it" when it comes to my first "real" transmitter? Would it be best to try it out without the M9 Hall sensor Gimbals? Is there, actually, any real profit in terms of learning curve, not to take advantage of this combo?
Has anyone here had any experience ordering from items from Horuscr to Germany?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I suggest, being you are new to the hobby, to consider the Taranis-Plus to start with.
As it is, it will do more then you will need for some time (http://alofthobbies.com/frsky-taranis-p ... -case.html) (cost about $200).
You can upgrade the Taranis-Plus to the M9 Gimbals.
I use the erSky9x firmware on my Taranis and love it a lot.
The Horus is more of a high end radio and is $300 more ($499.00).
The Horus is a bigger and heavier radio and not really for someone just starting out in the hobby.
Taranis-Plus I believe the best to start with.

Hi Carlos,
I am not sure if the M9 Gimbals come installed in the new Taranis-Plus.
You could check with Aloft Hobbies before ordering.
If they do not, you can order them (M9) from Aloft and if you talk with them they may install them for you,
but it is easy for you to do the installation yourself also.

Why? He precisely pointed to the Special Edition that has the M9s already in.
Yep that would be a great choice.

I do not know where he lives (I missed seeing he lives in Germany) and the cost is the same (or even less) when ordering from Aloft Hobbies.

You kept referring to the "Taranis Plus" which dos NOT come with M9 gimbals.
He inquired about the "Taranis Plus Special Edition" which does.
His profile states he is in Germany.

Hi Kilrah,
You are correct, is my first time seeing a "Taranis Plus Special Edition".
Just making a suggestion to where maybe a good place to purchase the Taranis and add the M9 Gimbals.
What other things does the Taranis Plus Special Edition have ?
The display screen still at the bottom, would be great to move it to the top.

It's not a new radio, "just" a Taranis Plus with a hydrodipped case and preinstalled M9s.

Hi Kilrah,
FrSky in the past has upgraded hardware and sometime may give Taranis a new name.
I do not see this "Special Edition" at Aloft Hobbies.
This could be something that Horusrc in Germany is doing on there own as a marketing thing.
I do not see "Taranis Plus Special Edition" listed at (http://frsky-rc.com/product/product.php ... ame=Radios).

The SE is an official FrSky product, been there for several months already.
Horusrc is in China, not in Germany and is pretty much FrSky's "factory store".
Alofthobbies carry it here http://alofthobbies.com/taranis-plus-sp ... ion-1.html

OK, I see it now.
I though it was just a different case, so for me not any real value for the higher cost.
Still do not see it at the FrSky web page (http://frsky-rc.com/product/product.php ... ame=Radios).

Re: New Taranis X9D Plus SPECIAL EDITION with M9 Hall sensor from Horusrc
Hi Kilrah and Bob B,
Thanks for your suggestions.
So, putting it plainly if I get it from HorusRC I'll get with this Special Edition the following for 214€:
Gimbals: M9 Hall Sensor
Stick Ends: Customized M4 CNC Aluminum Gimbal Stick Ends
Shells: Carbon Fiber / Blazing Skull / Camouflage / Rock Monster
Antenna: Detachable SMA Antenna
Switches: Upgraded Switches
Eva Case
And... I can already choose if I want the transmitter to come with EU firmware version (although... maybe that's a bit irrelevant as I can always set it up myself) and with the EU power plug.
If, on the other hand I would go for the same items in Banggood (basically limiting the items to the M9 gimbals, EVA case and transmitter itself) I would have to pay 258,75€. And that doesn't come with the EU firmware installed nor the EU power plug.
So... it seems a little bit like a no-brainer from a pragmatic point-of-view, but since I'm still trying to get my head around a few things, I wanted to checked with you guys if I was seeing it... wrong!!
The thing is... we're still talking about 213€ and I've been reading a few posts on HorusRC client support (a few negative ones on lengthily answers and usage of TNT which ended-up with extra-customs fees and so on... although in my case it would make more sense to use DHL... I'm pretty sure) that put me on hold to buy it straight away.
Cheers,
Carlos

Get it from an EU seller then... microtechnics.eu, t9hobbysport, many others...
