9xr pro , YAW input when throttle up ?!

Post by boutbou »

Hello, I think I got a defective gimbal on my turnigy 9xr ?

When I apply throttle Y get a right rudder input ( YAW) on mode 2 .

Here is the video : https://youtu.be/2Xk7O0XXsU4

what do you think ? Can I correct it without changing the gimbal ?
If it's the gimbal , How do I protect the next one ? My turnigy is only 6 months old.

Thanks

Are you sure you don't have any mix on the yaw channel that shouldn't be there?
Also go to Radio Setup / DiagAna menu. The first four lines are the 4 sticks. Check if the yaw stick's values also change when you move the throttle stick..

There is clearly something wrong.
I deleted the rud channel 4 and make it again. It is still wrong.

I think it is from the hardware. Because it went normal yaw throttle when I played with the gimbal on his yaw axis

For what it's worth, I have exactly the same problem. I was trying to figure out why my quad wanted to spin CCW all the time without extreme trim on the transmitter, and it looks like both (a) the yaw value changes when then the throttle stick moves, and (b) the stick doesn't center correctly after a yaw movement. I was looking at purchasing a replacement gimbal, but everything hobby king has appears to be out of stick and nobody else carries replacements.

I was thinking about the Taranis gimbal upgrade, but not sure I want either the expense or the effort.

Have a look at the gimbal and check to see if the body of the pot is moving, it should stay fixed.
If it is moving, try locking it in place with a dab of hot glue.

MikeB: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look.

Also, wanted to give a shout-out to Hobby King customer support. I wrote in asking if my transmitter (purchased July 2016) was still under warranty and what my options were for repair or replace. They asked for a video demonstrating the problem, which I provided, and immediately issued an RMA. The new transmitter is already en route. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

I am a similar problem, but not quite the same. This behaviour is not reproducible all the time, but seems to be happening more often now. Originally, I thought it was a calibration issue, but now I think it is a hardware issue.

My yaw values (LH) are jumping around when I release the left stick . The throtle values are rock steady (mode 2).

Example: LV is steady at 29, but HV fluctuates randomly between 7 and 24. Sometimes if I leave it for a few minutes or flick the stick it will usually settle back to 0.

Before I order parts or open it up, what is the most likely cause?

it could be a bad or dirty pot on that gimbal..
