Checking frequency output

Post by WhyKnot »

I have acquired 15 or so different tx from the family. Could someone tell me how to check output wave and do the tx' use crystals to produce proper frequency?

OK those are all 2.4GHz, so no they don't use replaceable crystals and measuring them would require expensive test equipment. Best is to range check with a compatible model.

RF Explorer 6G Combo: (http://j3.rf-explorer.com/40-rfe/articl) spectrum analyzer.
Which can show frequency bands between 15 - 2700 MHz and 4850 - 6100 MHz.
Example of some Frequency bands 72, 433, 933 MHz, 2.4 and 5.8 GHz.
Cost about: $365.00.
Other equipment will cost a lot more.

+1 on the RF explorer. If you're doing Hobby / nerd-for-fun level of spektrum analysis it works great! I've even used it to find a free 5.8Ghz band for FPV (yes, I could have used an RX for this, but I had the unit at the field to show someone so I thought I'd keep using it to solve a problem I actually had in front of me)
