Hi,
I was just given a Taranis with a strange issue. The radio itself seem to work fine, but it is not detected when connected to a PC. I mean, Windows does not see the device at all.
I checked the power and can confirm the USB power gets to the voltage regulator, and then 3.3v comes to the STM chip. The USB data lines also come through, so it doesn't seem to be a matter of a poor contact.
May it be some kind of a firmware issue preventing the chip from communicating with PC even in DFU mode?

For DFU mode, the 'firmware' is in ROM on the processor. With the power off, you are looking at just the power connection, USB data signals and the BOOT0 signal (processor pin 94) derived from the USB power voltage via a 3K and a 7K5 resistor.

Thanks, Mike!
On this radio, BOOT0 is ~3.3v when USB is connected.
The USB data lines go to pins 71 and 72, right?
So... when it's dead, it's dead?

USB data to pins 70 and 71, 72 is JTAG JTMS.
Also check pin 68. This is "OTG_FS_VBUS", and should be the +5V from the USB. This indicates to the processor something is plugged in.

Are you sure of your USB cable? Try a couple of others.
Re: Taranis - not detected when connected to a PC
Yes, correct, USB data lines go to pins 70 and 71.
But pin 68 is 0v.
Correction: pin 68 is 5v from the USB.
Regarding cable - yes, already tried multiple cables (tested & working on other devices) and also tried on a number of PCs. This issue is definitely in the radio somewhere.

Disconnect the battery and try again.

Yeah, I tried that already. Didn't help.
Looks like I'll have to swap the STM32 chip with a new one.
