Servos are vibrating when starting th9x

Post by fpirvu »

Hello Guys,

I've just bought a new fly sky th9x after i burned my old turnigy 9x.

I bind the receiver, i conected the bec, esc, servos, and started to test it.

First i heard some noise from the motor but that i fixed from the left right knobs, but my servos do not stop completely on the point 0 when i have the radio on. They are vibrating, the wheel is not moving in any way but they also do a little beeping and vibrating. I tried to adjust them from subtrim function but nothing. I also put them on aux channels using the gear shitch or the throttle cut switch, also the knobs but still cannot make them stop completely. I also tied with other 2 receivers and same. They are stopping completely when i turn off the radio.

Can you please give me some hints ?

Thank you very much

Are they actually moving or just buzzing? Digital servos for example buzz and it's normal, some analogs will too especially if there's a tad of mechanical force on them.

they are just buzzing and vibrating, if you touch one you can feel something moving up and down inside, but on the outside the "wheel" dose not turn not even a mm.

I see, to be honest i did not feel this on my old turnigy 9x, they were perfectly silent. Is't there any way to make them perfectly still? I understand that is somehow normal but i would like to have them dead silent.

Thank you

No. Servos have been buzzing for decades, just get used to it :)

You can check the radio's output screen to see if they vary, that could have a tiny effect on it.

Did the servos do the same with the old radio?

Hi, i'm experiencing the same problem after i tried to change the antenna of my turnigy 9x. Before i do that, my servos were perfectly silent and working just fine. Now they're buzzling but not moving the servo arm. A thing that i noticed is that when i click the menu button or some other buttons the servos move a little(the exact same moment i click the buttons). Do you know how to fix it??

Are you using the stock Tx module and receiver.
We may need details of what you have changed on the antenna. It clearly seems to be related to this.

Yes, the module and reciver are stock, only the antenna is changed. I tried to put the previous antenna but the problem was still there. The only thing i changed was the coaxial cable that connects the module and the antenna and the antenna itslef.

Are you sure you replaced with the same type of coaxial cable? It has to be the same type. And what antenna did you install?

The coaxial cable isn't the same, it's thicker than the previous one. I must also say that at one point i couldn't bend it enough so not all the pins were able to connect in the module (that was the first time i tried to turn on everything). When i turned on the turnugy it showed me 6.5 volts on the display and couldn't connect with the reciever at all. After i put all the pins in the voltage went back to normal but the servos started buzzling.

That starts looking to me like a big mess :) ;)

I can't understand very well, what you've done.. Do you have a couple pictures you can post so we can see what you've done?? It sounds like you used a coaxial cable that is not suitable for 2.4Ghz. You might also have created other problems on the radio..

Also powering things with bad connections could have damaged the module. If the ground connection is missing current may flow through signal pins instead and damage them.

Yep, That could even damage the processor pin that outputs the PPM signal. That is why I said above that he could have created other problems on the radio..

I am new to the forum and i don't know how to post pics,so i am going to try explain the situation. I tried toreplace my old Turnigy antenna with a 6db one. To do so i bought a new connector and a coaxial cable(5mm in diameter) . I unsoldered the old one , and soldered the new one in the module. The hole that the antenna goes trough wasn't large enough (about 3 mm) so i've made it bigger. I started putting everything together , but becouse the wire was too thick so not all of the pins were able to connect at first . At some point i got all the pins in their position and everything went back to normal...expect the buzzling sound of the servos. I also tried puting the old antenna back but anything changed so that makes me think it's not becouse of the coaxial cable but the pis that didn't get in the right place at first. Sorry for long explaining and the big mess :(

Also below the box where you insert your text here in the forum, there is a button that says "Full Editor & Preview". Just click on it. Then you can drag and drop the pictures to the box where you write the text you want to post..

The radio still works, right?
Does the other module have its own antenna??

If it doesn't have an antenna, then do not connect it. Powering the module without the antenna will possibly destroy it..

Why did you want to change the antenna on that module anyway?? You won't get a much better connection with that module and receivers, specially when the receivers don't even have diversity. And anyway, with a stronger antenna the connection between tx and rx will become more directional.

I will change the recievers antennas as well, just so i can fly to up to 3 km (that 's my goal) without using any amplifiers.

You won't reach 2 km with a reliable link with flysky, never mind 3 km :)
Not even with frsky that is a much better system..

Well,no matter what my purpouse was to change the antenna ot whatever, a friend of mine found what the problem with the vibrating servos was. Apperently something happened to the chip, wich is in the module ( under the metal metal plate on the top of the circuit board), when i didn't plug all of the pins and turned on the radio. I want to thank to all of you that listened to what i got to say, and answered me that quickly (not a thing in Bulgarian forums..) .
Cheers :)
