Ok, this definitely answers my early question..
So the speaker power matches the amp power. In theory it's still not good. In reality, it might work. Time will tell. ;)
I'm replacing the speaker anyway as with the oval one nearly all of the speaker area is being directed to the holes while with the round speaker that doesn't happen. Will post pictures tomorrow when I install the speaker.
On another subject, I ordered a couple taranis gimbals from alofthobbies just because the 9xtreme deserves them :D
But when I opened one of the boxes I got a bit upset. One of the bearing covers was on the bottom of the box and the screws for it were missing. See picture. I was getting desperate thinking I would have to send it back but then I ve decided to try the screws that hold the ratchet spring in place. They are the right size yaaay.. :) :D Good that the bearing cover was in the box.
But still they should check the stuff before they send it. An uncovered bearing is difficult to miss. :(
Also, the potentiometer's resistance is only 2K5. And to one side measures around 2k2 and to the other around 500 Ohms. That means the pots are not moving their complete range. Is that ok? Won't it reduce the resolution as the voltage won't be the full 3.3V to one side, and it won't also be as close to zero volts as it should to the other side..

Because you need to calibrate the sticks. Go to the Radio setup.menu, calibration, and then follow the instructions..

This might not be the right place for this question so I apologize in advance. This software is kick-ass but for the life of me I can't figure out how to create a mix to add a little rudder with the ailerons. I know, dumb ass...

Where should I look for this info?

Here:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6473

Look at the mixer chapter. This is the er9x manual, but the basics are the same. Ersky9x is mostly the same, just has a few more features.

But anyway, that is a very simple mix. You need to add a bit of aileron control to your Rudder channel.
Assuming CH1 is your Rudder channel:

CH1 100% Rud
+ 10% Ail

try it.

Re: 9Xtreme Upgrade Board for 9x Radios

I tried CH1 100% ALI +10%rud and it didn't work.
My ailerons are on ch1 and rud on ch4.
I then tried this: CH4 100% rud -10% ail and it works. Is this the correct way?

Of course.. that is why I said above:
"Assuming CH1 is your Rudder channel......"
Obviously if your Rudder channel is CH4, you must do the mix there. ;)
All this can be confusing at the beginning I know, therefore I posted the link to the manual. Read it, you will find very good information and examples.
Anyway, good that is working :)

That's... odd.

Oh, I see its part of their "Cyber Sale". I wonder how long it lasts. They won't ship here (Canada) from the Eastern Warehouse, but they will from the Western... but it costs $39 instead of the $21.65 in your link. Shipping here is horrendous too, but still cheaper than buying from China. Total is $71.70.

Don't really need another one though :)

I flew my 9xtreme 9x conversion today in a test brushless easystar plane. It went perfectly! I even had the airport police watching one of my flights. To their disappointment, I stayed under 400 ft and they left!
My telemetry worked great!
No strange conditions to report and the ambient noise drowned out any audio buzz I have, faint as it is. Great day poking holes in the sky!

Another question :D

Right now my quad setup uses 7 channels (ail, rud, thr, ele, mode, sub mode and ubec power input) I'm going to attach a 3-axis gimbal which requires another 3 channels.

What do I need to purchase for this to happen? Oh, I have the frsky xjt module attached to my 9x so what rx would I need to use with the 9Xtreme board?

jhsa wrote: very simple mix. You need to add a bit of aileron control to your Rudder channel.
Assuming CH1 is your Rudder channel:

CH1 100% Rud
+ 10% Ail
Here's how to read that mix. If you understand this, then next time you will be able to figure it out for yourself. The key to programming this firmware is just defining really clearly what you want to do.

First line: The servo plugged into channel 1 (which we assume is mechanically driving the rudder) will respond in direct 100% proportion to movements of the Rudder stick. This is your basic mix created when you make a new model (assuming you have chosen a channel order has Rudder on channel 1).

Second line: The servo plugged into channel 1 will also respond to movements of the aileron stick, but only at a 10% rate (full aileron stick will produce 10% rudder). The + sign means that the two inputs will be added together, so if the rudder is already partly applied, moving the aileron stick in the same direction will increase rudder deflection.

Hope this helps. Once you get it, it's really simple.

(By the way, I suspect that people who like math also like the logic of open source firmware, and vice versa.)

The 9Xtreme, using PXX protocol, sends 16 channels to the XJT. For the receiver side, you can use either a X8R or a X6R, and use the SBUS output to get all 16 channels, 8 or 6 also available on the servo outputs. You may also bind a second X8R or X6R that will then provide channels 9-16 (9-14) on its servo outputs.

Thanks for the info which brings another question :D
do I need to hook up the black & white wires to the xjt module to use 16 channels?

Hi dalaman,
You only need the TX telemetry Black wire when using PXX protocol.
See here for more info: (viewtopic.php?f=126&t=7771&p=103368#p103368).

Bob,

If I'm not using telemetry do I still need to hook up the b&w cables? I will be using the Eagle Tree Vector for my FC which will provide all the telemetry data I need. So about the cable...
